Sounds like you are refering to Tim Wenk's Peanut Butter and Jelly trick. He put it out years ago under his company Metempirical Magic, Stockbridge, MA.
It is a sort of Passe-Passe bottle routine using a jar of Peanut Butter and a jar of Jelly.

I also remember Doug Henning doing a Rube G. type illusion on one of his TV specials with Bill Cosby years ago. He also did this in the touring show.

You can't forget Tony's sponge ball routine where he explains the theroy of Professor Fartenjager of Menecka-Menacka University, or his TV Card effect where he explains how you have to "Dominate Camera 3".

I stopped by Chris Angel's stunt this afternoon. You can see him through the outside window, but they did let people walk in right up to the tank. Chris was waving to the people from within the glass tank.
I got to take a few digital photos of him pretty close up.

Hocus- Pocus, It's Magic was filmed by HBO for broadcast. It was repeated many times in the early 80's. They did about 5 or 6 such magic specials in the late 70's. Only this Hocus- Pocus,It's magic made it to the video stores.
