Re: Best "card to wallet" wallet???

I realize that many pros have used the Bendix Bombshell in their professional work (John Mendoza chief amongst them). It is a rather clever idea. However, IMHO, there is just something that seems unnatural about wallets with Himber straps in them--they just look a little fishy to me personally. (The...

One more side note: whenever situations like this occur, it reminds me how laudable the way Michael Ammar dealt with the MAJ situation really was--and how reprehensible "he who must not be named in Genii Forum"'s conduct was with regards to the BN's.

With respect to Mr. Farmer, while I agree a pdf would help get the material out there more quickly at minimal cost, as a subscriber, I would prefer to wait for the last two issues to appear in printed form (perhaps as a double issue). I would hate to see a situation where a pdf would be seen as a wa...

If disembodied limbs bother you (and if they don't, why in the world don't they?), John Carney has published a methodologically-related effect in Carney Knowledge. (It also appears in his wonderful The Master Sessions DVD's).

Re: Neil Patrick Harris Rocked on the Emmy Awards Tonight

Word is that we'll be seeing Neil do much less magic in the future in his TV appearances. His career is obviously on an upward track, and I was told that his manager has insisted he do less magic and make fewer references to magic because people think it's geeky. Jim Swain noted in an interview tha...

Re: Having trouble with passes...

I concur with Richard's examples. I believe that methods affects effect--therefore, trying to do some of the visual routines of folks such as Latta (e.g., Deadlier, Point Blank, etc.) with pass substitutes would likely not have the same impact as the originals. Some of the best magicians in the worl...

StevenM: I respect your desire to learn the classic pass, as there are some things that are just not possible without it. However, I would also suggest asking yourself why specifically you wish to master it--is there a particular effect you wish to use it in? If so, then you will also need to give t...

Re: Happy Birthday David Copperfield

This is a disappointing story on Bio.com. Although the allegations should be mentioned (as part of history) surely it should not have led and dominated this piece.

Obviously, the public appetite for smut outweighs the need for fairness (at least in the mind of the bio.com writer).

Re: Tenyo - Status of Company?

I think the Shu Mai trick is hilarious (but I suspect it will be lost on many US audiences--at least for those that have never had Dim Sum). I'm pleased that it's not a cut and restored, penetration, or mental effect (which are Tenyo's historical leanings). It makes me wonder, however, where would i...

Re: Whats the buzz on the new Bicycle Box design?

While the Phoenix deck looks interesting, don't many magicians use Bikes as a way to attempt to dispel suspicion by using a deck that looks familiar to a lay audience?

I'm not looking to argue whether that matters or not, but it seems that the Phoenix concept undermines that whole rationale.

From reading the text, it's clear that Mr. Weber wasn't trying to restrict anything. I think you are mistaken. I strongly suspect that the "agreement" printed in LifeSavers was indeed meant to be a wry and humorous response by Mr. Weber (an attorney himself) to Mr. Cervon's unenforceable restrictions printed in Ultra Cervon. From reading the text, it's clear that Mr. Weber wasn't trying to restrict...

This reminds me a little bit of Mr. Cervon's printed restrictions on the use of material in Ultra Cervon. In that case they were perhaps understandable requests, but they are generally non-unenforceable under US law. (I really liked Mr. Weber's rebuttal in Life Savers).
