Re: New TSA Security Procedures

All joking aside (at least until Dustin's next post :) )... What I think was a very unfortunate side effect of the Post 9/11 security measures was Tommy Wonder's open reluctance to visit the US prior to his untimely death. I seem to recall that his public statement detailed his refusal to undergo wh...

All the carping from the magiccafelumpen (MCL) Re: Feather v. I can personally vouch for what Mr. Lorayne has written (although I doubt he'll remember this incident). In the late 70's/early 80's, I informed him of an ad that appeared in the national journal of a magic organization of a homemade video tape of a local US lecture by "Harry Lorriane". Th...

So sad to hear this.

Mr. Reynolds had my enduring respect for writing some of the most honest columns I ever read--even when it wasn't popular to express those views.

We sure could use more of the likes of him.

RIP, Mr. Reynolds.

BTW, that count you referenced is called an "Elmsley variant" by Kenner, but to me, it looks like a typical two card push off count that is sometimes used as a false count, but often used in packet tricks to conceal a card. I don't know if it has a formal name, but it's roots go back to Al...

I'll have to pick up a couple of Pheonix decks (along with some Mandolins) to try (I also noticed that Bicycle just put out a "Pheonix" deck as well--some black and gold monstrosity). I'm of the camp that spectators could care less what kind of cardbacks you use, but I also believe that wh...

Unfortunately, even when the regular pips reappear, the crummy paper stock in these will likely remain. I'll probably just stock up on Richard Turner's gold seal cards.

Are the pips of the new Bicycle Rider Backs Smaller?

I just bought of brick of the new Bicycle Riders at Costco tonight. When I opened the new (ugly) box, I noticed that the faces looked funny to me. I agree. Reserves don't seem to offer much of an advantage to the seller (you don't save any money), and they always leave me with a "tease" feeling as a buyer. I much prefer to set a minimum bid for what I am willing to take for an item. It weeds out the non-serious buyers, and doesn't wa...
