It's really nice that the AMA members chose to give Brian Gillis a posthumous award during the same (award) year he passed.

Re: Mnemonica Miracles Sale: April, 2019

Just wanted to add this: the DVD's arrived quickly and they were in good shape. However, the DVD slipcase and the DVD case itself were crushed at the top. I inquired about this, and Tannen's informed me that part of the reason there is such a steep discount on the set is because all of the DVD cases...

Re: Razor Blade illusions

I think that sounds correct---the way it's often presented, it doesn't seem consistent with traditional American-type magic (just like Blaine ramming a needle through his hand isn't either). However, isn't invulnerability to harm part of some shamanistic traditions? Would this possibly be perceived ...

What's interesting to me in this nearly 13 year old thread is an objection to the effect given the prevalence of people who cut themselves. I appreciate the different viewpoints from all. Mr. Mills makes a great point. Some material reads poorly, but looks amazing and vice-versa. Seeing it in action from the creator can sometimes help evaluate it more accurately. There are caveats, of course, especially when the creator isn't a strong p...

In my search for the Gordon Bruce Okito material, I found this article from a couple of years later: https://www.scotsman.com/lifestyle-2-15039/why-are-scotland-s-magicians-in-crisis-1-476852 (It includes a grim joke from our own, Ian Kendall -- hopefully, things are a bit better for magicians in Sc...

I don't like Okito boxes. I owned a Johnson box until I dented the lid. There are a few effects I like though. Chad Long's backfire in Okito Reverse-Embly on DVD 1. Chastain Chriswell's "Outside the Box" especially when all the coins go back into the box at once. Bill Goodwin's finale. Mo...

What I think was the real shame of the "Impromptu" project was that in 2013, a sample pdf was produced which showed what the project could have been. Things were typeset and the new stuff was integrated with the old. It's really too bad that this fell through as it could have been really g...

For you comics fans, on Season 6, Episode 15 of Comic Book Men (available on Amazon Prime), the old Kreskin ESP game makes an appearance (6:09). I mention it only because Ming and Walt do a mind reading "experiment" which is more entertaining than a lot of mentalism I've seen. (In addition...
