Re: Memoirs of a Magic Dealer

Al Cohen's column is the first thing I look for when I receive Genii in the mail. I miss his shop, the characters that he writes about, watching Al perform and the carmaradie of all the people who visited. It was something I never took for granted because I knew I would miss it when he retired.

As I said previously, I thought this was outstanding. I may be viewing this through a magicians eyes but I'm also trying to frame the performance. Here is a young man on a network show (not cable) that is a series. His appearance , music, presentation are quite pleasing. We certainly can disagree ab...

Re: Jason Latimer TV appearance this week!

I throughly enjoyed Jason's performance. His presentation, music and facial expression were excellent. If anything can be critized I believe it may be that too many things occur and sometimes the effect appears confusing but overall this is minor. I doubt that non-magicians caught any moves. I playe...

Thanks to everyone for your input. I did see some of the earlier bulldog switching devices but the one used by Chris seemed different. He hardly touched it. It may be the same device with better handling. I'll revisit the earlier bulldog clips and see if I can work out a similiar handling.

I really enjoyed Mindfreak I and II and felt it was a step forward for magic on TV. I don't believe the effects were altered by any camera tricks or editing. I viewed "Elevator" on the Hocus Pocus website and what they show you looks suspicious. You never see his upright body levitate. He is hunched over and seems to jump up and remain in a crouched position. Some one who has seen this in person would have to weight in for an accurate opinion.
