I heard Andrus address the subject of misdirection on multiple occasions. He said he never used it, and specifically designed magic that did not require misdirection.

This is a simple matter. Putting quotations around a word indicates that its use is in opposition to the word itself.
In this case, that "entertainment" is so-called entertainment.

The phrase "card mechanic" is generally used to indicate a card cheat, I believe.

Naming people who are not stage magicians won't advance this thread.

Ricky Jay most often performed as a stage magician. Albeit it was often a small stage, but he performed on very large states as well and often with only a deck of cards (and some windup toys and a watermelon).

The only two phrases that I can come up with that don't sound idiotic are "cardworker," and "card magician." Then there is "cardician," which is only understood by other magicians.

New material will be intermingled, not separated. Ace Assemblies, for example, will all still be in one place.

Is Tarbell 7 a timeless book? No--it's quite clearly a product of the late 1960s/early 1970s.
