Re: The Pass

There are so many great ways to use the Pass that I can't count them.
At the top of the list is as a card control.
I've also noticed that the people who most often criticize the Pass are the ones who can't do it well.

Bob, I see a lot of mixing by pulling the halves apart and then reassembling them by "kissing" the halves (what you call the drawbridge move), however it doesn't appear to serve the same purpose.

Re: The Pass

Mark, one must differentiate between those who do the Pass well vs. those who do the Pass poorly. For those who do it well, this is a non-issue. For those who do it poorly ... well, they should be doing something else.

Re: Michael Weber's "Do Your Homework"

Slydini's Linking Pins works the same way: the illusion is that the staff is on one side of the other pin, while in reality it has already moved to the necessary side. Magicians don't understand this about the routine because they can't get the Andrus routine out of their heads. I wish I had video o...

Still, since Richard is here and he is a writer perhaps I can ask him something. What is his method of finding time to write and how does he go about it? Does he write a bit each day or a lot all at once and how much time does he devote to it? Does he suffer writer's procrastination? Different proj...

Re: The Pass

One of the points of using the Pass instead of another type of control is that the deck is NOT shuffled afterward by the magician. There is no visible way of potentially controlling the card. Doing a Pass and palming off the card, or doing a Side Steal, or doing a Diagonal Palm Shift, all allow the ...

Re: split manipulation tecnique who created?

Sorry, am in Japan and jetlagged. Max is correct. I don't believe Vernon's story about Ardo the Frog Man. The most believable credit I have heard is Cardini having invented it. Buckley claims that he came up with it in, I think, Principles and Deceptions. The notion that Cardini invented it rings tr...

Re: Here's one of the strongest effects from GAME CHANGER!

However, I like the effect of cut high card where the spectator always wins and the magician doesn't--I just don't care for Jason's method. As a thought experiment, I imagined a deck of 26 low cards and 26 high cards interleaved with long and short cards so when the spectator cuts it's always a hig...

The technique was created by Harmington, who first performed it at the Theater Robert-Houdin. This predates all other references. More can be found in Gaultier's Magic Without Apparatus.

When I was a teen, the local IBM ring in New York City was the greatest place in the world. It had about 150 members and incredible lectures each month. All went well until the treasurer skipped out with all the money (and it was a lot). Bastard.

The shredder is not plugged in, therefore it must have a battery pack inside the frame as well as batteries for the wireless receiver to activate it. Do these types of batteries last for years with no use?

It seems fishy to me.
