Re: Get your Ass Kicked HARD by Charlie Miller!

Thanks for the great clip, Richard. This is the first time that I've seen the man in action. What a terrific showcase. His one-hand tabled riffle shuffle is frighteningly beautiful to behold!

Re: What is this card "move" called?

My favorite handling is Simon Aronson's Mark-A-Place move, from The Aronson Approach (1990). It allows you to do the "dirty work" while the cards are spread between your hands.

Re: 10 VERY best you've ever seen

These are the best magi that I've seen in person. I'm honored to have spent "quality time" with several of them. Del Ray (The absolute best!) (The rest. In no particular order.) Penn & Teller Ricky Jay Derek Dingle David Copperfield Mac King Paul Harris Lance Burton Larry Jennings Mich...

Re: Berglas Effect .... WOW...

Excellent summation, Richard. Oh how I wish that I were in your (and Matthew's) shoes when David created this extraordinary magic moment for you!!!

The tortures of the knowing and the not-knowing propell us forward, yes??

Re: Berglas Effect .... WOW...

Arnie,

I think that I have suffiently described the pre-show work that may have been done to explain both the successful climax of the effect, as well as the rather non-plussed reactions from the people involved. What more are you looking for...?

Re: Berglas Effect .... WOW...

Well, damn! After compulsively viewing the clip, I have burst my own bubble of amazement by concluding that it was accomplished by pre-show work. Thus, it was not (methodologically) the Berglas Effect that Richard and Matthew experienced. I base my conclusion on the anxiety exhibited by both McCutch...

Re: The Best Magic Magazine Of All Time

I'd wager that total number is likely smaller than those who use other sleights like the Elmsley Count.
Chris,

Please, oh please, give me one scenario in which a crooked gambler would use the Elmsley Count, "under fire" during a cash game. I await your enlightenment.

Re: The Best Magic Magazine Of All Time

I did not write "The Most Important Sleight of the 20th Century FOR MAGICIANS." I believe that Richard is referring to the fact that the use of the Zarrow Shuffle is not confined to only magicians. It has also been adopted and embraced by crooked gamblers, thus significantly increasing th...

The Real Hustle

I just finished watching the first two 30 minute episodes, and I enjoyed them. The action was well-paced. The scams, though familiar, were clever and the crew executed them well. Apollo and Ryan looked relaxed and confident. I wasn't previously familiar with the actress, Dani (?). I thought that she...
