This thread seems like a good place to mention that I just created a 3D model of the Magic Arts Studio in Watertown, MA that is now included in Google Earth. If you search for the shop and turn on the 3D layer, you will see the model.
Is this a first for brick and mortar magic shops in cyberspace?

The Square Circle IS a Classic!
For the most part I always enjoy Jamie Ian Swiss's book reviews, and I think very highly of him as a magician. He does not hold back with his opinions and that usually makes for thoughtful and interesting reviews. It is one of those opinions that I take issue with in his current review of Master Pay...

Re: John Calvert
Thanks everyone for all the information. I had no idea a living legend like this was still performing and lecturing. My ignorance allows me to make these "discoveries" from time to time, and it feels great.
I wish him well on his recovery.

John Calvert
My cousin saw John Calvert perform last night in NYC and said he was amazing. Calvert is 98 years old and is scheduled to play the London Palladium for his 100th birthday. He was an actor back in the 40s and 50s before becoming a magician, but really who is this guy? Has Genii done a story on him?

Re: Ricky Jay's New Stage Show
I saw the show last Friday. It was my fourth time seeing Ricky Jay. I saw 52 Assistants twice, On the Stem once, and now Rogue's Gallery. Of course I enjoyed it. What's nice about this show is that it is different each time, so there probably won't be too many spoilers here. Projected on a large scr...

Re: Tragedy Tray - David Merry - Description is NOT accurate
The first thing that struck me when I read the ad was not that there might be some electrical shock to the volunteer (troubling as that is), but that the whole premise of the item is to make the volunteer look and feel foolish. I thought the prevailing wisdom nowadays was to avoid that sort of magic.

No more cash?
I bought a small toy for my son the other day that cost one dollar. I didn't have any cash on me, so the clerk offered to take my credit card. He said they they had no minimum. He also told me that most stores these days have no minimum, and that he and most everyone he knew didn't carry cash most o...

One-Trick DVDs
In the July Genii Speaks column, Richard talks about the insanity of of buying one-trick DVDs. "Why in the world would someone pay $30 for a DVD that teaches one trick when you can buy a book that teaches 25 or 30 tricks for $10 more...Are the people out there buying magic that incredibly naive...

Re: Harper's Magazine
In addition to the FISM article, which I found to be even more gripping than Celebracadabra, there's also a fascinating piece about classic video game champions, specifically Billy Mitchel, who played the perfect Pac-Man game - getting all the dots and fruit on all 200 plus levels with only one man....

Re: strat-o-sphere box
I found one in the Collector's Marketplace. I plan on using it to vanish another object. With some minor modifications I think it will be effective for my purposes. I'll be able to show both doors front and back before and after the vanish.
Thanks for the information.
