If not 3D printing, might Tenyo have a use for this instead?

Clever Pendragon Presentation Tip

I loved Jonathan Pendragon's brilliant idea of the wormhole presentation for the "Pen Through Bill," at the end of his Panmagium piece (in the Feb 2016 issue).

And I also loved that he taught the trick to his friend.

Re: Tenyo using 3D printing?

They do not use 3D Printing to create prototypes. Can you elaborate on that? Did you talk to them about it? Is it a conscious decision or do they just not have anyone who has tried it or suggested it? I'm not saying their prototyping process needs to be changed in any way, but I am curious why they...

observer, Currently on this thread, we are discussing (politely, I think) the nature of what a magic lesson is, vis a vis its relation to exposure, and how it may be perceived differently depending on the venue the lesson appears on. Richard, in your research for Tenyoism, was there any mention by anyone on the creative team about using 3D printing for prototyping (in the past or for the future)?

It was not an "exposure." It was a lesson. BIG difference.

However, I agree about the lack crediting, both by the original maker of the video, and the BoingBoing editor who posted it.

I read John Lovick's review of Steve Drury's book, "Key Mysteries" on the subway this morning (Yes, I read Genii on the subway. I find there are still book-reading people on the subway, but printed magazines seemed to have almost entirely disappeared). In the review, Lovick describes a Dru...

The larger point of the article, "To increase the power of your magic, remove yourself from the magic," is an idea that was discussed in a past Genii thread about Carbonaro. I believe he also strongly thought magic was better without the magician. In the case of the Connect Four trick, I a...

The Tenyo version might take advantage of people already knowing the principle, but it doesn't depend on it. And what about all the boomerangs in magic sets?

It's no big deal that RK exposed the secret, but it does underscore your weird sense of inconsistency in the general matter.

The Boomerang illusion is a very good Tenyo magic trick (that is included in Tenyo-ism). So I would imagine thousands of Japanese have seen it performed to them as a magic trick. It has also been included in many magic sets, I believe. People may not have seen it in a magic show, per se, but they mo...

The majority of people are likely to experience this illusion as a magic trick performed for them, not from a psych 101 textbook. So, yes, it is an exposure, albeit, as performer states, a minor one. The interview in Apatow's book is interesting, along with all the others. Merely mentioning there is a shocking personal fact in it is not gossiping - Speculating that it has to do with his mother is. Nicely done, Jonathan.
