Re: Marlo's contribution to Cardmagic

Despite the fact that Marlo published tons of stuff that are not really practical or useful at all, he did publish some fantastic and some very commercial effects. The material in the Cardician and Marlo in Spades has some wonderful routines. One of my favorite effects of Marlo is Topsy-Turvy Aces. ...

Re: Contacting Steven Youell

I saw him over at the Magic Cafe' for the last couple of weeks so I believe he is back, at least for a while. I believe he is scheduled to lecture at the GGG unless it has happened already.

Re: Good Venues for Close-up magic lectures

I thought it would be useful for close-up magicians who do lectures to recommend their favorite locations. I just lectured at Barry's Magic Shop in Rockville MD last week. It had: tiered seating for forty air conditioning a sound system a big screen snacks during the break a web site promoting the ...

Stewart Judah has an excellent laydown sequence for this effect in Pallbearers Review. MacDonald's Aces is such a powerful trick that ... hey great misdirection there! Would you recall the issue or page number for this? Autumn 1974 Issue (Volume 9). It's in a Stewart Judah one man issue and the tri...

You are probably right Richard, but nothing comes to mind. I'll check through my Randy Wakeman books just to be sure.

Re: MacDonald's Aces Handlings

I don't care what anyone says about his McDonald Aces. Chuck has the funniest comedy club act in magic. His curmudgeonly (grumpy old wombat) demeanour is hilarious and the peeked selections routine is a killer. I totally agree. He has that character down pat and he has a great act. I just don't kno...

Re: Opinions wanted: repeating an effect?

I read the above question as to a magician repeating the same trick for the same audience. Here is my opinion. If the magician wants to do the same trick for the same audience - when they say "do that again" - They should use a different method or technique - to accomplish the same trick....

Re: Dan Harlan Arrested

Although what Dan did was wrong, at least he didn't get behind the wheel of a car in that condition and take his life or the life of someone else. I hope Dan gets the help that he needs and I don't see why he wouldn't be back in magic. If he is looking for people on his side, he has plenty of allies...
