Re: May Genii

Arrived in Roseville, CA yesterday - 4/16. However, the April issue has yet to show up. I'll probably be calling in on the 21st to call it a no show and request that one be sent my way.

Has not shown up in Roseville, CA (near Sacramento) yet. I was told to wait until the 20th before requesting a replacement. Hopefully it will show up. Magic magazine for April showed up a couple of days ago.

Re: Art Gross has died

Art was one of the first magicians that I met when I moved to the Sacramento area in 1986. He was a great guy who loved magic and loved sharing what he knew and learning new things. I am saddened by his passing. I wish his family well during this difficult time.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the information. I'll take another look at my holder when I get home. Again, it's no big deal and the content is excellent.

Best wishes for the holiday season,

Re: John Carney - The Master Sessions

I really like John's approach to magic and he has always done an excellent job of teaching. I also received the first disk last week and think that the material is excellent. My only complaint would be that the collector case for holding the four disks does not "hold" them. The one disk is...

Re: Garcia Flys Under Radar!!

Just saw this post the other day. It caused me to look up the effect and to start playing around with it. Haven't tried it yet; still working on it, but I have a couple of suggestions for folks who are using it or may want to try it out. 1. If you have the spectator select their card from a face up ...

I really like David Regal's Wild Card handling in his new book, "Approaching Magic". Well worth picking up a copy.

I used the Twos and would change them to Kings. The patter pertained to the lowly Twos dreaming of fame and fortune only to wake up and realize that they are still Twos. BTW I never showed the Kings at the start. I just routined it so that the Kings were added to the Twos and the one Two switched ou...

Re: crystal method card

I'm probably a bit paranoid but it appears to me that you can tell the card looks a little different with the gaff in place, especially if another card is right next to it. I think that when using the gaff you may want to put some distance between the card and any other face up cards. Moving a signat...

David Stahl had a version called Maxi Twist IX that he published in a small pamphlet of tricks called "Don't Stall, Stahl!". There is also a version is Apocalypse Vol 18 # 11 called Maxi Twixt X. I don't remember who this one is by. David's handling is nice because he removed the Ascanio S...

I pre-ordered David's book and was very excited when it arrived. I have all of David's books (except the first, I was too young to know back then how good he was). The thinking that goes into his creations is an education in how to construct and entertaining and fooling routine. However, I do find h...

Thanks, Frank

I'll check out the version in Kenner's book. I don't own the Steven's tape so that's not where I originally saw the routine.

Thanks Guys,

In my mind I really have this tied to Michael Weber, so maybe it's in some lecture notes of his that I have. I'll check there.

Ed - Which Kenner book is 5-Speed in?

Thanks,

Book that this trick is in

There was a three card monte routine that I did several years back where the Joker (or odd card) turned into a selected card at the end. It involved double stick tape and the optical monte move. I thouhgt that it was by Michael Weber and in his Lifesavers book, but a quick check there did not turn a...

Maybe the marketed version has a gimmicked card so that you can show them all face down with a spread rather than an Elmsley count. Just a thought.

Thanks to some information from Steve I upgraded to Adobe Reader 7.0.5 and QuickTime 7.0.4 (both free) and now the videos will play in Adobe Reader.

So you no longer have to worry about this problem if it was holding you back from buying this great effect.

Hi, I agree with everything said in this message. However, I did run into a technical problem when I received this effect. I had Acrobat 7.0 and Quicktime 7.0 on my PC and the videos would not play. I contacted Michael about this and they confirmed the problem. The solution is to download an older v...
