Re: Magic Takers

I just sent him an email asking by what right was he ripping off Bob Farmer...perhaps if enough people hassle him?... Unfortunately rip-off artists don't have a conscience at all, or they wouldn't be doing what they're doing. Fair-play, loyalty, & bon homie (the "club") have been repla...

10 VERY best you've ever seen

I was at a Large & Fun/Drunken Mardi Gras party tonight. Ergo, am slightly plotzed, and thus compelled to present a top 10 list as a conversation stimulator: THE 10 best magicians I have ever seen: Dai Vernon Slydini Patrick Martin Daryl Jeff Sheridan Derek Dingle Doug Henning Teller Michael Web...

Re: Blue Man Group lawsuit over "botched" illusion

Mr. Connolly: Just for the sake of accuracy, I believe the guy, in the 2nd suit mentioned above, was complaining about more of a ( o ) :o ( o ) situation.

But HEY! This is a magi-site, right? NO POLITICS!

Given current prices for say a nice Kellar or Thurston poster...
If magic becomes the next ("art as investment") fad, to what stratosphere would prices shoot?!

Health Updates

(Though it is probably none of my business) I would like to hear how the folks who have had "health issues" in the last months are doing. How is it going, Mr. Biro? Mr. Maven? Mr. Klause? Mr. Racherbaumer? How's your dad, Mai Ling? Richard recently mentioned some pain issues (sciatica?). I...

Of course what he doesn't mention is that when February rolls around, we saps will then be TWO months behind, and all the dudes with their sweet MARCH issues will start bragging, and heckling us about THAT too. Re: Product Reviews in Genii

I also like both kinds of reviews: good and bad--as long as they are honest & well-reasoned. They are often the 1st things I read each issue. I appreciate Richard's points, particularly wasting space on junk, and the need to back up the opinions expressed. Further, I can also imagine not wanting...

Re: Cups and Balls loads

Mr. Farmer wrote: "I think it was Jay Sankey who produced a table full of additional cups from the cups." I found Jay's routine (the only one I know of) in "Sankey Panky" (pg. 110); he does produce a 4th cup, and ends up with 16 balls of 7 different sizes, from 1/2" crochete...

Re: Identify this gimmick

I did not explain what I was picturing very well at all--I pictured the device on a finger, not the thumb.

--Rather its use as a secret hiding place for something to be produced was what reminded me of a few Mr. Sankey's tricks with thumb tips.

Re: Identify this gimmick

Purely brainstorming: The photos remind me of several Jay Sankey routines using a thumbtip (i.e., where the gimmick could be used the way a thumbtip is--hiding something until needed--including your idea of a billet switch [or fortune-cookie fortune--but I don't want to get in trouble with Jay by un...

High praise for McCabe's "Scripting Magic"

This is a quick note to mention what a GREAT book is "Scripting Magic" by Pete McCabe.

This book will help everyone that reads it: PARTICULARLY young magicians.

Really top notch, Sir! Thank you.
