Re: Quick question
I sold a copy - not fine, but good- on ebay about a year and a half ago. It was sitting at $105 when 2 newbies started a bidding war. It ended up at $200+. Shortly thereafter quite a few showed up on ebay but none topped $150, most stayed around $100-$125. Oh, I threw in a set of spongeballs for the...

Sir, The picture of a duck on your link strikes me as something I saw in a book called "Inventions that Necessity was not the Mother of" many years ago. The book includes detailed illustrations from American patents submitted to the U.S. patent office. I attempted a search at the patent of...

The funeral directors I know are very funny guys. Once they get out of the shop they enjoy having a great time.
In general, focus not on the funeral aspect, but the business aspect. After all, they may be enbalming Grandma, but it's still a make-a-buck business for them.

I picked up the book right after Murphy's made it available. The artwork is fantastic (although the Goldin sliced nose picture still disturbs me). The book reads nicely. I find that I pick it up occasionally as I walk past its shelf and read a biography or two. It's a fun book to browse. I doubt tha...

Spaeth,
Check out William's Magic in Tucson. They should be able to hook you up with the local magic club. Tucson has more than its share of good magicians.
Disclaimer - I haven't been in Tucson in more than a year, so its entirely possible that the magic scene there has changed.

As Frank points out, the two do have different methods. The Beck version includes a list of similar tricks that are either based on puzzles or use gaffed bills. My gut feel is that the Daryl trick will be more useful because it could be impromptu - assuming there are any magicians that have $29 in t...

I enjoyed the write up and really liked the idea of shifting the puzzle into a trick. Then two days later I received Antinomy, and there was the same puzzle turned into a trick. This is the kind of thing that will give the credit historians fits!

Re: Magic is in a period of contraction?
The marketing of magic products to magicians and hobbyists has exploded in the past few years. The market for magicians serving the general public has contracted. It's very easy to bring new products (especially DVDs / e-books) to market these days. In fact, it's too easy. There used to be a natural...

I haven't found the message in 318 yet. I have the bound compilation, though. There are a lot of double struck letters in the issue but unfortunately the copy quality isn't the best. Perhaps the originals are easier to decipher.

Dang! 15 minutes later and 2 of the 3 copies are sold! This internet marketing is the bomb!
Due to the extreme interest, the price on the last copy is now $182.00. No, not really - one copy left, still just $35 postpaid priority in the U.S.
