Re: Best tricks for a women's luncheon program?

I second Pete's opinion. My mentalism act always brings a surprising number of positive responses from women. I believe its because mentalism has the potential to be more relational than confrontational. You have to work WITH the audience to make the effects successful. As to those who told you &quo...

After months of an all-too-quiet magic book market, I just opened up my August Genii and found two highly desirable titles advertised - Miracle Factory's House of Mystery and H&R's Little Egypt Book of Numbers by Steve Bryant. Pray tell, does anyone have any legit info on other hot titles up and...

My knuckles (heavens, which ones? Where's the Card College endpapers when you need them?) tend to pop inwards when I fully extend my fingers. Hyper Mobility ala Dingle

When I first flipped through Genii this month the photo of Derek Dingle's hand in On the Slant caught my attention. It probably stood out for me because my knuckles do exactly the same thing. Mr. Racherbaumer dubbed it "hyper mobility". I've always just called it "bein' double-jointed...

I know it occasionally shows up on e-bay. I have at least 2 volumes, maybe 3. Working from memory only, I think the majority of the contents ran along the lines of mental magic. Not pure mentalism, not straight magic. I've not found anything in it that I wanted to put into my routines yet.

I'll admit I'm a devotee of the HFCP. I've been doing it since I first saw the writeup in the DeCamps issue of MUM about 15 years ago. Subsequently I've run into it in Livera's Confessions and then in Genii. I usually use the effect to respond to that pesky comment "You're a magician? Do someth...

Magic shops have a long history of selecting who they want to do business with. I used to demo in a magic & costume shop where the owner would jack up the price for anyone she figured would be a pain in the arse. It allowed her to keep her sanity. And, yes, the shop was open for a long time - it...

Jules Lenier did a monograph on Bank Nite in the 1970s and he traced the trick back to a 1927 Tom Sellers booklet called Tricks That Work. Sorry, Steve V, it doesn't look like you can claim that one. However, I have it on good account that you wrote the song "Billy Jean" in 1981 and prompt...
