Re: Penn & Teller
A Producer credit might bring in more money over the course of time. I know from reading about Gilligan's Island - which was re-run over and over and over and … - that the producers/writers/directors got residuals forever, whereas the actors only got anything for the first four or five (something li...
Re: ERDNASE
The Erdnase/tobacco cards possible connection begs the question: Were the card tricks on those tobacco trading cards popular effects with card magicians in the late 19th century? Much like the packet trick craze of the 1970s. I think they are (mostly) more or less "standard" tricks, popul...

I think this is a different question. More along the lines of... ...let's say you have an unique act, and that you are beginning to get more bookings than you can handle. At that point, it might feel reasonable to hire another performer, teach that performer your act, and send that performer out on...

The real point is, never ask a spec to do anything more demanding than selecting a card and remembering it. And even then, have them hold the card up for the rest of the audience to see, so that when they freak out at the idea of being on stage and forget it, at least a few people will know what it ...

Performers can keep their monte routine as "pure" as pure can be and it'll still be BS because they'd get eaten alive on the streets.

Re: Gimmicked Three Card Monte vs. Real
Well, since real monte as "played" on the streets for money, and magician's monte are entirely different things, it seems pointless for a magician to affect any sort of purity of method. In a show, the objective is to knock the spectators' eyes out, and the performer absolutely should gaff...

Himber was apparently a huge big deal in the swing band world - to the point where I at one point was under the impression that his magic stuff was just meant as PR fodder for his bands.
