I decided to spend this summer reading the wonderful book: The Magic Rainbow by Juan Tamariz. What a wonderful experience that has proven to be. I was particularly intrigued by Mr Tamariz thoughts about magic and symbolism, fascinating writing about why certain effects in magic has become classics a...

I have just finished reading Fred Kaps Master Magician which was a Christmas gift from my wife. Fred Kaps was a magician that has fascinated me for a long time and the book by Van Zeist is a fascinating read. It is interesting to take a peek into who the person Kaps was and what made him tick. One c...

To be honest I don’t see a problem with P & T teaching the French drop, it is thought in basically every beginner book in magic. Is it a bad technique? Certainly not, it depends on the way you are doing it.

Thanks for the input Ian. Yes I was thinking about that as well for not only a possible solution but a practical one as well. I was thinking just as an exercise about other possible solutions: I do believe it would be possible and practical as well to leave the setup of cards in the case when you ta...

Tearable trick by Phil Goldstein
Hope you are all doing fine on this Sunday, I have been reading old pamphlets by Phil Goldstein and one of them, namely “Tearable” peeked my interest a bit. It’s a pamphlet that describes Goldstein's work on a double transposition of two torn cards. I liked the routine quite a bit, even though it ta...

Out of sight, out of mind
Hi,
I seem to remember that David Ben had some work on Vernon’s Out of sight, Out of mind in one of the Genii magazines, but I can’t remember in which. If someone could help me in finding the correct issue it would be much appreciated.

I have been meaning for a while now to really study a book in depth. After some thinking and taking in to account my interest in both history and religion, I decided on The Discoverie of Witchcraft. It will be interesting to tackle this book both from a historical and a magical point of view.

Yes Richard i understand that. My point is that, Hofzinser’s bottom palm is described whit a different technique in Hofzinser’s card artistry. Re: Hofzinser´s Bottom Palm
The Hofzinser bottom palm described by Magic Christian differs from the Hugard and Braue. In the Hugard and Braues version the right index finger plays an important role. In the Magic Christian’s version it isn’t used to pivot the card/cards.

Re: Hofzinser´s Bottom Palm
Thank you Richard for answering. In The Expert card Technique by Braue and Hugard, the right index finger on the left side of the deck plays a crucial part in making the bottom card move into the left hand.
