I love that ending to the ambitious card routine. It's so visual and magical that the audience, even kids, reacts strongly. Sometimes I'll have a child pretend they're pulling a string above the card and time the release so it looks like they are making it happen. The look on their face is priceless!

I've found that if you pay attention to the audience, they will pay attention to you. Instead of working hard to get them to notice you and what you're doing, notice what they are doing. It helps a lot in keeping the kids from getting out-of-hand.
