Re: Magicians in Trouble
I want to clarify that I am talking about the thread's following posts where magicians who knew nothing about the situation felt free to comment on my character. When my felonies were dismissed, I was treated well by the community but that news garnered a fraction of the press that the original arre...

Re: Magicians in Trouble
I don't remember getting the same treatment, I was savaged in the magic press almost at once and often and way before I ever went to trial. I have always taken the high rode on this, but some day I will tell my side of the story and it will ring far truer than my ex's ludicrous Mandela interview.

She reads Berglas, or me, or she came up with it all own her own. When I returned to magic, I considered a mental act that was inspired by the whole spectrum of mental disorders like OCD and Autism, It was written about here. Magic Castle property manager safe in Mandalay Bay
Darren Ross who manages the Magic Castle property LLC for my wife's family was in the Mandalay Bay at the time of the horrific shooting. West was able to contact him while the hotel was still in lock down and he is safe. Everyone was rushing around when a good samaritan opened his room to guests for...

Re: Coming Up September 22nd Season Four Finale of Masters of Illusion on The CW
Confrontational as it might seem, I submit that the Metamorphosis presented by Kanoe and myself on the finale of the Master's of illusion season, is without peer. I filmed this at age 63 and trained the girl who presented it with me in the fine art of metamorphosis. Kanoe was trained in dance and mo...

My next Panmagium is out in the next issue of Genii, after that I will write an article on Zen Archer that will deal with stage safety. This will include the use of archaic weapons (swords, staffs, knives and, of course, bows) that are often used in Grand Illusion. These can be exciting but like the...

Re: Masters of Illusion - Zen Archer
On the contrary, you were absolutely correct. What I wrote was trite as I was trying to hype a TV show I am on. I am very proud of the archery effect as it takes real skill with a bow to make it work. The martial arts mentalism line was something of inside joke, Ricky Jay once designed a pirate ment...

Masters of Illusion returns to the CW next week: Friday June 30th - 8 and 8:30 PM. I don't know when I perform first, but I am told it will be in the first two weeks and it will be Zen Archer, an archery card trick that involves my beloved Bear Super-Grizzly recurve bow. Martial Arts Mentalism!

I wrote the article after reading the thread on Daryl's death. I really hoped it would open doors for those who suffer in silence and more, help those near the...

What i like is that the character development is interlaced with the coin magic. Doc Holiday, a demon in Constantine and many others have used the coin roll to express "cool" and "clever" more than mystery. Here it is a mystical running gag (Neil deserves so much better praise th...

I had never seen Pushing Daisies until West sat me down in front of the TV to binge watch season one. This was several years after it had left the air. For the Disney fanatics that populate our small universe: I am not sure if they intended this but Peter Stormare has been seen in the previews playing a modern Czernobog. In college, I saw Harry Anderson play the part of the strict school teacher in a production of "The Night Thoreau Spent In Jail." He was a trained actor before his high profile roles in film and TV. The considered drama of his work in magic betrays his roots, he loves to tell stories.

I haven't read through all of this, but the pianist strikes me as a set piece, a piece of scenery. Scenery has a point often beyond creating a construct the audience can relate to. It can be evocative in it's silence: perhaps a piano is a mute instrument until it is played by and artist, it can't ma...

The hanging strait jacket escape while spinning is a stunt that could really cause you to pass out. When I saw him do it I thought there was great potential for that kind of injury.

Dustin We disagree on Vermeer. It's more than just a documentary ("film" is too broad a rubrics) made by magicians, it's a journey, a struggle, to find something magical, to solve a puzzle: "I can paint like Vermeer... ta da!" That's a magic trick. Imagine if he never revealed th...
