Re: Winged Silver by Koudai

I have observed your work. I don't value your opinion. My primary point here is that I do not fit with you people and should not be conversing with you as you are not aware. For the most part you are confused about what magic is. You would attempt to build a house without knowing what a house is. I ...

Re: Winged Silver by Koudai

Thank you Richard! You inspire me to offer some wisdom from my lofty perch at the top of a mountain. A mountain of corn stalks. “The audience is the final judge.” But they are polite. Well, most are. But, to grow, the performer must observe the reaction of the audience to the magic presented. But yo...

Re: Winged Silver by Koudai

I’m no legend. I’m just an old fart that lives in a corn field in Wisconsin. I don’t even think my magic is that great. In any of my work I can quickly point out faults and errors. I am just a nobody like you that can express my negative opinions as you just did.

Re: Winged Silver by Koudai

We open with a flourish of showing the hands MT. Two coins are shown to be normal with a bit of fanfare. Two coins on the table do not receive the same treatment. Ergo, there is something wrong with them. During the routine I had no clue where the shell coins were. Then, with all the finger flutter,...

A real wizard would not bother to show his hand MT. He/she would not bother to show something normal. Then you (general you) don't have a clue what I am talking about.

Re: The Word Magic

Communication depends on common understanding. If there is no agreement on a subject at hand, the communication between terminals is, at best, garbled. My initial question was to determine who might have something in common with my understanding of what magic is. As has been pointed out, there is no...

Re: Close Up Magic Born in Hollywood?

In 1830 in Boston 35% of people lived in boarding houses. Most had sitting rooms. I have read that some individuals went from house to house doing tricks. The top change, pass, and palm ruled in the very low light conditions of the day. I suspect this was true of most cities that grew at that time. ...

Re: Cross Cut Force Science

Magic is a class of events of which there is no possible explanation. 62 years ago I did a trick in Gusipes pizzeria. It was after a high school football game. At the time I was doing Bert Allerton’s aspirin box routine. I used the cross cut to have a card selected. Roy, one of my little audience, s...

This gimmick strikes me as being brilliant. I thought of a routine with it. This is probably old and trite and I am displaying my ignorance of magic history. Open a Himber wallet and show it MT. Have someone shuffle a deck to their hearts content. Use this gimmick to have a card selected. Open the w...

First, I don't understand your rant against chances of 1 in 52. This is in essence the effect of the Invisible Deck which is a known powerful trick. It is very powerful. Second, I kind of agree with you on ACAN routines in which there is a hunt for a card even though it may be concealed in some kind...

I am wondering if someone can help me. The video below was on an L&L DVD I helped them produce. My problem is that I am not expert on mental stuff. Most of the material on the DVD was coins and cards. No mental stuff. This trick was a shot in the dark. It was not audience tested. My only awarene...

Your magic is very smooth. Also your videography is professional, likewise with your title sequence. And your website is very professional. Do you do all this yourself? Re: Script Ocean

I think I have not communicated my theory well. It goes way beyond magic. Everything in life is a script. The point is that it is so pervasive, we don't see it. Like a fish in water, "Water, what's water?" Then, if we as magicians know this, we can capitalize on it.

Dave, very well done. It also means the ability to apply or do that which is groked. It also means that it is part of your existence. But if you speak Martian it means even more. SCRIPT OCEAN This is a repeat of ideas I have expressed before. The basic point is that we have scripts in our head (subconscious? whatever) that we use to function in life. The issue in this post is to indicate that this mechanism is massive. Essentially, we are what our scripts are. This is so per...

Coins Across Routine by Al

Part of my character is to admit I am wrong.
I believe that intelligence is directly proportional to willingness to admit self wrong.
Whatever has been said, I am wrong.
Thank you Kent Gunn for being so blunt about this.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
