A Bunch of Free Magic Magazines

Over the years I’ve collected a TON of magazines (mainly close-up). But I realize that nowadays, magazines don’t have much monetary value. So everything listed here is free. BUT… As I’m far too lazy to box them up and ship them, if you want ‘em… you gotta pick them up. I live in Las Vegas. So if you...

Re: Richard Himber - GENII issue?

Here’s a story that Jackie Flosso told me about Himber. When Jackie was somewhere around 12 - 15 years old, he would do odd jobs for Himber. Run errands, set up shows, etc. One day Himber calls and asks Jackie to come to his apartment (somewhere in Manhattan). Jackie gets there. Himber lets him in. ...

Many years ago I made the decision that if a magician picked me as the volunteer for this and was going to use my hand, I would just sit down. I'm not sure if we can crate surveys on here, but if you were a volunteer and the magician wanted to use your hand (even if it was a magician we all respect)...

Here are two...

Takemitsu Uchida:

The jumbo card manipulations start at 2:50. And later in the routine he does super jumbo cards, which is fun to watch.

And Mahka Tendo here:

You can try a side steal, essentially "stealing" the bottom six cards and bringing them to the top, as you square the packet.

I'm almost positive that Jack Avis had a routine with a Dixie cup or styrofoam cup in his book Vis-A-Vis (don't have the book with me so can't look it up). Thee was no false bottom. You could use a borrowed cup. The gimmick was in the wand. Today, you can have the gimmick in a finger ring and pretty...

If we're playing the guessing game, I'll guess Michael Skinner. Definitely famous among magicians, didn't publish much and was only 51 when he died. Plus, he had a huge repertoire, so there's got to be stuff that hasn't seen the light of day.

I've seen a handful of magicians use the following patter when they vanish a large denomination bill. Was wondering if anyone gets credit for it and if it's published anywhere... Magician borrows a $20 bill and vanishes it. Then, throughout the rest of the show, whenever he refers to the spectators ...
