Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

Naturally my opinion on this matter would be absolute gospel but alas I am not able to express it because I can't understand what the bloody trick is about. Something about a box and people examining it or something. I have tried rereading Jon's original post and I still have no idea what he is try...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

here we have a grown man who posts his ad in a discussion forum and is now butt hurt that people are actually discussing that ad he posted in the discussion forum! In that ad I was commanded to: •Imagine Tommy Wonders ring box routine except you show the box empty before and after! It doesn't just ...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

You guys trashing something you know nothing about doesn't bother me. Please don't lump me in with "guys trashing", I merely pointed out the numbers. As I inferred in my post, I am always thankful when a working performer shares anything out of their repertoire. You work a lot. With the e...

Jon, don't post advertisements for tricks here if you don't want them to be examined closely, and the trick discussed in detail, by us. That's what we do. Tom, Brad, Andrew, and myself are all long-experienced in our field and even if we don't agree with one another, we don't make negative remarks ...

you made a post in a discussion forum and people are discussing it. You surely didn't expect everyone to fawn over it just because you posted it, did you? Your ad copy is poorly conceived. It suggests you do not understand what it is you are actually offering. That's not trashing something - that's...

yeah, I don't know anything about commercial magic products. Never written a word about them before this. your ad copy is flawed. If it were well conceived none of this discussion would have occured. Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

I have doubt plenty of magicians you respect looked at it and didn't see the flaws. i will defer to Tom Stone's opinion. The marketing was misjudged. it's ok. magicians think like magicians. as I said, I have no doubt this is exactly the kind of thing people who buy magic tricks will like. Brad, Ha...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

The effect he's actually doing has nothing to do with the Bruno Hennig trick. What he's doing is a repeat card-to-cardcase, but contrived onto a metal "mints" box so he can produce the mints at the end. ah - that explains a lot. So many magicians have no idea what effect they are attempti...

I have performed card to box more than 100,000 times over the past 20 years under real world conditions for every person imaginable under every condition imaginable. That means over fourteen times a day, seven days a week, for twenty years. Kudos! Not easy to get to those numbers... I have spent pl...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

ToiBox is not a box. Toibox is not a routine. Toibox is a card to box system. Toibox is a series of sleights, moves, techniques that allow you the magician to perform card to box however you want. If you want to do the classic Bruno Hennig version you can absolutely do that. If you like Tommy Wonder...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

and what you still fail to see is that any improved reaponse has NOTHING to do with the audience seeing the box empty before or after. And yes, they will ask how the card got into the box. But with a method like the Hennig (properly orchestrated), one eliminates the possibility of sneaking it in PR...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

again, I think people are missing the point. The issue isn't if the box might come under suspicion - though if the routine is structured for maximum impact there is no reason the magician should handle it in anyway to suggest it might be more than it is - the issue is that being able to show the bo...

Hi Jon, Are you familiar with 'Mystery Solved'? Do you think the version with clean box but but dirty hands is inherently better than clean hands but dirty box? Why7? Clean Box Dirty hands gets my vote. I want to be in control when I perform. You could clean your hands up pretty quickly then you wo...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

I have been performing “Mystery Solved” by David Penn in paid shows. He has two versions, one with the box being examinable but not your hands and first version with the box not being examinable but your hands are clean. The effect is the same if performed well. I really don’t think one is stronger...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

Maybe you don't understand the effect, since the box is on the table from the start. The effect is not , "How did you get the card in the box?" The effect is, "How could my card have been inside that box on the table before I even selected it ?" Yes that is the "effect.&quo...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

If they think it has something to do with the box then you're presentation is off. They see an item in the box, and see you clearly dump out that item. As far as they're concerned, the box is empty. If they don't think the box is empty, then they think you switched the card and you might as well no...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

my question has nothing to do with the answer you provided. My question address something other than where you have your focus. being able to show the box empty before or after the card appears does not eliminate any method a person would come up with unless they already knew the Bruno Hennig metho...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

here is my issue: a signed card magically disappears from the deck and appears inside the box. you remove it from the box. why should any human want to look at the box at that point - simply from a narrative perspective. The effect is that you made something travel or appear inside the box. Obvious...

Re: "This beats them all!"— Doc Eason

I've always thought examinability is a professional/amateur divide. Professionals do a trick and put the props away. People aren't asking "can I see that box" as you put it away, and if they do, you can easily decline because you are moving on to the next trick. If the spectator handles t...

He's hostile to crap, generally. There is absolutely no need to ever show the box empty after you dump the card out. None. It's not an improvement, merely something to sell to magicians. Seems to have been in his working repertiore for at least 5 years, according to his youtube channel: https://www...

also, Bruno Hennig created this approach to card to box. Not Fred Kaps. Hi Brad, Yes I mention that in the tutorial. But it is commonly known as the "Kaps" style of card to box. I went with that in the description because I thought more people would be familiar with that. But yes you are ...

TOIBOX Card To Box System by Jonathan Kamm First of all what is Toibox? Well it's not a box. There are plenty of those on the market. What it is is a series of utility sleights and routines designed to work with a specific style of mint tin. Mainly the mini size Altoids tins or any similar size tin ...
