Re: A new book on Annemann - The Miracle Factory

Trust, once lost, can take a long time and a lot of effort to rebuild.

Todd Karr is at the very beginning of that road. There's a long way to travel.

He kept making new promises he never kept. ...I will not pre-order anything from Todd Karr. Todd Karr took $40,0...

Thanks for these, Dodd.

I chose to skip The Works, since I previously subscribed to Weber/Trono's Real Secrets and felt that project did not deliver what its advertising promised.

I downloaded a copy of Vanish a while back and didn't get very far reading it. The writing was flat-out terrible and not worth the time to read. It was clearly just an excuse to distribute advertising. This sort of dumbass "award" just puts Vanish even more clearly in the same bin as Tony ...

Those who prefer cards as their magic prop of choice are card handlers or card workers. Amateurs might be card enthusiasts. Those who delightedly focus on the sleights are card mechanics. Those who place more importance on the effect's presentation are card magicians. A scant few are card artists. H...

I see most of those more as legacy books than event books. An "event" is (too) readily declared by anybody for any purpose, but a legacy book for a major, non-overexposed magical figure is pretty clear. Berglas, Tenyo, Thompson, DeLand, Tamariz fit clearly into the legacy book category. Mo...

Not in New York, anyway.

Can any of the old-timers describe the quality of Bicycle cards in prior decades? Say, in the 60s through 90s?
