"Poller" magician?

Hi, I would be grateful if anyone had any leads on an 1800s (19th century) magician named "Poller." Perhaps he was a card cheat? I found this sentence in Card Sharps, Dream books, and Bucket Shops by Ann Fabian: "[JH] Green demonstrated, one paper said, the ' skill of a Poller or Sign...

Davenport Brothers article

How long is the Davenport Brothers article in the new Genii? Does it have a focus, or is it a general article? New info? Thanks!

Thanks Richard, yes, I love that book, though I confess I may have purchased it from the publisher rather than from H&R! ;)

In appreciation,

Thanks for the suggestion, Mr. Townsend. I've met Mr. Olsen, and he is nice, but do not currently have contact info for him. :(

Re: New Commercial (Spring 2012) JC Penny Clear cups-b-balls

Fascinating how the Cups & Balls is used in pop-culture/advertising. Also points to fuzzy dividing line between cups/balls and 3 Shell game, which is really the image.

Thanks to MaxNY for posting this.

Re: Early American Magicians

I'm looking for sources on magic in 18th century America. I've read Pecor's dissertation book and the appendix to the Miracle Factory edition of _Annals of Conjuring_ , but would be grateful for any additional leads.

Conjuror's Magazine in US?

Hi,

I would be grateful for any leads toward figuring out if Conjuror's Magazine (1791-1793) was sold or even read in the United States?

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Interesting how Randi's work --and the frauds he exposes-- are branching out. Good for him.

Richard, thanks for keeping us up to date on this. I would even be thrilled to even just _purchase_ a "free" brochure if one is available.

Re: Criss Angel time & venue?

In terms of rehearsal time, I was thinking primarily of Mindfreak as series television: if you have to create many hours of episodes of new material in one year, you have less time to experiment and rehearse than if you are only producing one new hour of material per year.

Richard, thanks for mentioning this. If you sell any ephemera related to the exhibit, please let us know: I for one would love to buy a poster or brochure.

Criss Angel time & venue?

I want to share my feelings about Criss Angel, suggesting that he'll soar when he finds a better venue: Criss Angel has experience and skill, and his goth/rock daredevil is a unique and engaging character for a magician. But whenever I see Mindfreak I get the sense that he would be better served by ...
