Check out "Code 5" in Power Plays. It allows two people to do basically what the computer does. One person leaves the room as a spectator selects 5 random cards from the other magician. This magician then leaves the room without any communication with the first person who returns. The spec...

iGenii problem
When I launch iGenii on my iPad, it begins "Maximizing Available Space" but stops and locks up at 72%. There is plenty of space available on the pad. Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

Thanks for the quick reply Richard. I found my iGenii name and password. Sorry for the false alarm. I love reading on my iPad and I very much appreciate that my subscription to Genii gives me free access to the back issues. Kudos to you for that!

Didn't Mike Ammar have an item where an ace of diamonds becomes a 3 of diamonds with visual moving pips?? There's also the floating diamond effect which resembles Cosmosis. Hi,
Keith Walker will once again put on the CEMK (Close Encounters of the Magic Kind). This year the dates are Nov. 11, 12 and 13. I believe it is again at the the Jade Palace Restaurant in Webster NY.

Re: Jerry's Nuggets cards on ebay
Hi Chris,
It was actually $153 for two decks. But $75 for one deck is wild. I've got a few of these decks and I'd rather have the $$ to buy books and dvds than the decks. The bidding on my decks is at $36 (for both) with a day and half to go. We'll see if there's any bidding wars at the end.

Too bad everyone knows they're about to watch a palm. It would have been interesting to have the palming sequence be part of a larger series of actions, which was then followed by a series of questions to magicians about what had happened. I'll bet that no one would have detected the palm.

Don't forget the dealers' point of view. There's only so much money to be spread around. I've been a dealer at conventions where they've allowed too many dealers. It may have been fun for the attendees but the dealers came up short. There's a balance, and that's what the organizers should shoot for....

Hi WarlockDrummer, I got 1.446 x 10^43 dollars for $1 at 5% compounded quarterly for 2000 years. The formula is FV = P(1+r)^n. Here P is 1 (dollar), r = .05/4 = .0125 (the quarterly rate) and n is 8000 since there would be 8000 quarters in 2000 years. My calculator gives me the number above from 1.0...

Lets get this right. As stated above, there are 52 factorial (52!) possible ways to arrange a deck. This is because there are 52 possible cards for the 1st position; 51 possible for the 2nd position etc. This comes out to 52x51x50x49x.x3x2x1 possible arrangements. That comes out to be 8.0658 x 10^67...

Just as a mathematical aside - The reason that 9 is cool is that we have a base 10 system. If we had a base 16 system, like computers folks use, the magic number would be 15. It's always 1 less than base of the number system. Ultimately the reason for these properties is that 10 MOD 9 = 1 and thus 1...

I would be worried about using a metal pick since it might damage the quarter. Perhaps a toothpick will get the job done.
I wonder if putting some sort of lubrication on the new band would prevent it from adhering to the quarter when you replace it later??

As far as I know, Allan Ackerman invented the methodology used by Wakeman and Malone. His effect appears in his Magic Mafia Effects book. I think it's from the early 70's. In Ackerman's routine, the magician cuts first as a demo and the spectator actually only cuts 3 aces. Harry Riser had the idea t...
