Re: Astonishing ACAAN on Fool Us
The number you hear is not the number he said. Watch his lips. Indeed.... he said "Seventeen", and the voice over said "Forty-seven"... and the man had a quick sudden reaction after hearing. Yeah, it's that simple, an audio trick. After watching the man's lips and doing a bit of...

Re: Astonishing ACAAN on Fool Us
Penn specifically asked and she denied pre-show and stooging. Unless she lied.
But Mike Close is aware of the method and I don't think he would let her lie in order to win.

Astonishing ACAAN on Fool Us
On the recent episode of Penn and Teller: Fool Us, Emily Robinson-Hardy performed the best ACAAN I've ever seen or read.
No pre-show work. No stooges. She never touches the cards.
I'm flabbergasted and flummoxed! So were P&T.

Yes, that is dry mount tissue. I'm not familiar with that brand.
This is the excellent brand that I use:

Re: Glue for playing cards?
I owned and sold two Lassen Card Geniis.
I much prefer Eoin O'Hare's Alignment Jig. It doesn't have a lid. That allows me to use my banding iron to tack the card layers in place before popping it into the T-shirt press.

Re: Glue for playing cards?
Years ago, based upon Bob's recommendation, I bought that label-maker. I used it twice and was unhappy with the results. The resultant card is too soft and doesn't have the proper snap. Then I came to my senses and began using dry mount tissue and a commercial T-shirt press. Dry mount tissue is the ...

Chris was terrific. But I was surprised that he fooled them.
"Pick a number between one and four."
And Penn noticed the two card cases on the table. Hmm. Why does one deck require two card cases?

I unearthed the only known video of one of my rare lectures. It's from 2006 and the production values are poor. But you can witness me and the crowd having a jolly romp as I screw up one of my own tricks.

Re: Guillotine Card
I’ve never been pleased with the plastic bases for the guillotine card. Unlike their naturally occurring iron, carbon and plant counterparts, they’re synthetic and look tacky in comparison. So, I gave myself an early Christmas present. A bitsy buzzsaw of doom! https://imgur.com/iTbImrQ I used my tin...

Guillotine Card
Guys, I opened the panel of my Zig Zag card and turned the card sideways, so the panel was pointing upward. I closed the panel. Watching the panel close reminded me of a more sinister piece of hardware. Thus Spake Zarathustra roared in my head and fireworks exploded in my pants. After much toiling w...
Moxie
I just watched the first segment of the first episode of the new season of Fool Us . I stopped watching to share my impressions. For now, I don’t care what the other performers have to offer. Moxie rules! Try to imagine her life, as the daughter of Penn, with uncle Teller. Think of what she’s learne...

Heat-Adhered cards?
In my early card-crafting capers, I made a manufacturing mistake. I’ve been thinking about that error recently and doing some experimentation. My mistake may have magical applications. If you perfectly align two cards, subject them to heat and pressure and let them cool, they stick together with no ...

Re: Zig-Zag Card
I initially created a gaff in which the center panel passes through the border. But it looked weird to me. The panel is clearly only passing between the two left borders. Aesthetically more appealing? Perhaps. Creating a more fragile, prone-to-problems side? Definitely. After much tinkering and the...

Jay Eriks
While digging through old magazines, I found issues #1 and #2 of Magus Mirabilis , (2001) by Jay Eriks. The author is from Fishkill, NY. I attended 4F in the early 2000's. I must have picked them up from him there. Whatever happened to Mr. Eriks? Does anyone know him? The only mention of him is in M...
