Oooh, that final phase is excruciatingly exquisite! I cannot fathom how the participant can input the cards in any order.

Re: Michael Skinner Coin Routine

I apologize for the derailment, but this discussion caused me to tangentially think of Al Schneider's cool effect Hugs and Kisses. You know, the coin effect with the X's and O's cut out of the copper and silver coins. I saw Al perform the effect live at some convention around 1978 and it blew my 18 ...

Yesterday, during our standard Saturday session, I mentioned Wes Iseli’s effect to Jeff Prace. I began jumping up and down, frothing at the mouth, singing Iseli’s praises and tearing out clumps of receding hair because I couldn’t unravel the method. Jeff jeered, scorned, ridiculed, derided, scoffed,...

Wes Iseli entertained and amazed the entire crowd with a coin and a piece of paper! I have no idea how he did it.

Great stuff.

Re: Marlo's Reverse Drop Sleight

Yes Bob, I understand that you don't violently bend the card and make it cry. I made that comment for the benefit of others less hip to the sleight. It's best to execute the switch quickly, yet almost absent-mindedly. You're simply, briefly displaying a card, in the larger context of an effect. If y...

Re: Marlo's Reverse Drop Sleight

Bob, The pressure/spring technique is a fine approach. But you must to careful to ensure that your pressure on the card and the resultant bend of the card aren't visible, however briefly. And depending upon the condition of your cards and your level of functioning, the switch may not always go as pl...

Re: Marlo's Reverse Drop Sleight

Context is everything. If you're performing stand-up, in-the-hands magic, without a table, the crowd sees that your hands are full. When you need to turn a card face and face down, you must use a portion of the deck in one hand to reverse the card atop the portion in your other hand. Without sprouti...
