The story of a child pointing out that David Devant's hand was shaking always struck me as very sad, and the medical issues that cut short Karl Germain's career were quite tragic.

The one I remember was Cub Scout Magic, which was in my elementary school library. It was published in 1960, and I saw it sometime around 1970. Interestingly, the only trick I remember from it (and it was more of a stunt), was how to pick up a empty coke bottle with a straw.

I think you read this in a book (or magazine) by Karl Fulves but I don't remember which one. I have seen "Floating Key" used in several places.... I know Mike Powers has a trick using a similar principle, but I don't remember what he called it. If memory serves, the effect by Mike Powers ...
