I’ve only seen the Coins Across with Interlude, and the odd decision to swap a little red bag for the Boston box didn’t seem to add much. Hoping for better things in the future.

Michael Skinner describes a very similar effect (the large case is shown to hold numerous boxes of cards, all of which turn out to be empty) in his introduction to Sawa’s Library of Magic, Vol. 1. (haha) That was written in 1988. The trick was Dr. Sawa’s.

I don’t recall the trick from that name, but I’ve seen catalog references to “Bruno” before and wondered if they meant Bruno Hennig? The Conjuring Archive lists several ring and ring box effects by him.

I agree with Brad on this, people are willing, if not eager, to get swept up and carried away by something they know is not authentic. The lesson we can take from the success of pro wrestling and reality television is that the experience is heightened when 1) the fantasy is as rich and engaging as p...

Tony Miller’s Mobius Purse will also hide a coin which can later appear, plus it opens out into a flat strip of leather, which is a clear advantage over something that you have to look into, or stick your finger in, to prove that it’s empty. http://www.rfaproductions.com/products/mobius.html http://...

Without the move being in frame, and the get-ready, if any, shown, it’s hard to distinguish this lift from the technique described as “soft double” in Roger Krause in Concert, which I’ve been told is a Vernon handling of the double lift.

Brad, The short answer is, no, the handling’s a bit different. Paul’s was published in Apocalypse. The handling attributed to Billy Goodwin is, as far as Craig Ousterling and I can tell, Gordon Bruce’s. I’m told it appeared in a little manuscript or lecture notes that I’ve not seen. The alignment move bothered me as a kid. Not enough to make me want to switch to stripped cards, but enough to add a line that “explains” the move, and frankly, moves the script along. I’ve added that line whenever I’ve taught the trick to someone. It’s simply this: as you do the move, (which bears ...
