Re: BLATANT RIP-OFF
Jim raises (no pun intended) a valid point, one that I have given a lot of thought. Nationally and internationally, there is a vast number of people who have now grown up with the internet, and have developed a sense that all information (there's a difference between information and knowledge) shoul...

Re: What's the best magic book you've found at a bargain books store?
I found a copy of John Booth's "Marvels of Mystery" for a couple of bucks in a used bookstore in my old hometown. Turned out to have the bookplate of one of my childhood mentors inside, dated decades earlier. A sentimental and professional find.

$547.00 for the course - unbelievable. May do wonders for Grubb's (an appropriate surname) retirement package but will likely only result in a lower checking balance for the buyer. All of these success peddlers are the lightning rod salesmen in the field of magic. Why the vitriol? We still live in ...

Amen to Robert Allen. Any voting in showbiz should be done by casting your money. Support the shows/acts you like. It's no different at the Magic Castle. It just doesn't make much sense to mount letter campaigns if you are not directly involved. On an only slightly related note, I would support any ...

You can't go wrong w/ any of the items from Ken Brooke's Magic Range. I don't know how Joe & crew managed to revive the line, but I'm glad they did. Some of the items require some practice, so many will overlook them or put them away. That's OK with me. Thanks to Paul Green for steering me to so...

The easy answer to this is that the bookplates affect the value of your books positively IF you are famous. If not, it's probably a minus to a majority of book collectors. Like you, I think it is interesting and important to see bookplates from the previous owners. I enjoy knowing that a book came f...
