Re: No More Gaffed Cards from USPPC?

This has been known for some time. They will no longer print anything that alters the backs of their trademarked cards. What's interesting is that the Bicycle Rider back has been used since at least 1906 (when DeLand first started marketing gimmicked cards), and I don't know of anything from before...

Hmmm, I guess I fall more in terms of Francesca. It's fashionable to say "It's awfully fashionable to 'hate' on twitter" but I also am not very big on wearing logos all over my clothes either. I think both fall into the "convince them that it is cool to do free advertising for us/let ...

Re: To Peek or Spread

You hit the nail on the head, each has their pluses and minuses, it's all about what you want to convey. Peaking a card, for example, is interesting in that it allows a card to be selected without the performer (or the spectator) seeing the back of the card. Spreading is the opposite. Spreading also...

Re: sources for force matrix

I was relatively disappointed with Daniel Peris' "Peristance" book. However, he did offer an interesting take of a force matrix-TYPE (not a force matrix, a force matrix-TYPE) effect. I've tried it a few times and have been a bit shocked at how strongly it plays for a math trick (please don...

Best is highly subjective. Even something more objective as "most useful" can be subjective as well. However, I'll offer my limited feedback on what I have found to be the "most useful" booktests. First, "most useful" is defined, BY ME, as: used the most often, generall...

Kent, I enjoyed watching your video, very nicely done. I look forward to seeing it in Genii but I'll say the following: I think it is a great effect regardless of the audience. It has built-in throw-offs for the magi in the house but has a emotional hook for non-magicians. Keep it up, man! I first r...

I expected this to be a waste of a thread. Several points are being missed here. First off, one would assume there is something else than staring at GB's hands going on, so his methodology probably flies by. There are several marketed effects, as well as effects in print, where body parts or "injuries" are predicted ahead of time. In the ones I have seen, they involve forces but generally not verbal forces. Since you didn't specify (unless I missed it), I recommend checking them out. Maybe sta...

How specifically do you know (feel, see) when the card you wish to cull is over the place on your finger(s) where you move it? Not sure I follow the question, so I'll answer (for me, of course) all the ways I read that. I handle the cards very loosely with all the cards to the left slightly spread....
