Re: Why is editing so bad in magic publications?
I love magic books. I've got 2,000 or so here in my office. They are technical books, and accuracy and clarity are important, so my small efforts in that regard are worth it to me. I do try to recoup some money from the work I do so I can continue to make purchases. It's worth it to some authors and...

I might add Patrick Page's great "Old Moore's Diary" trick, still available from http://www.PatrickPageMagic.co.uk. It's also described in the big "Magic Page by Page" book I edited, along with two Ted Danson diary versions.

Joe -- May I suggest you read "Our Magic" if you haven't done so. Or read it again if you have, as I am currently doing. Your analysis is shallow. And pay attention to what Richard just posted.

Re: COVID-19 Death Harvey Rosenthal
I was a good friend of Harvey's for several years (as was Richard K.). For a couple of years I was included in a back-and-forth video 'conversation' he had with the great Allan Ackerman. From the material in those videos, I decided to write a book of Harvey's stuff, but his inability to make decisIo...

I very much enjoyed Lucy / Carisa's act. What she has is a developed character who is entertaining to watch. Other than Rob Zabrecky, that is something I don't see enough of these days. Thank you for posting this, Tom, and Brava, Carisa!

The postman delivered a HUGE package to my doorstep which turned out to be a new magic book, “Gagnon Unfiltered”, by my friend Tom Gagnon and which I had the pleasure of editing (along with Newell Unfried). This 500 page book is Tom’s largest work to date and is a true labor of love. In addition to ...

Re: How is Simon Lovell doing?
I speak with Simon (via telephone) every week. He's an old friend. He's not too involved in magic nowadays; he concentrates on his art and spends time doing cryptic crossword puzzles (as do I) and watching TV. He uses a walking frame to help him get around -- he had a series of bad falls that left h...

Zabrecky - Strange Cures
Rob Zabrecky’s autobiographical memoir Strange Cures is a great read (for mature readers). It’s a 345 page trip through the childhood and mid-20s of a musician who became a magician. Growing up in the southern California suburbs, Zabrecky found himself in a boring environment. Starting grade school ...
