That's exactly what i said. I identified the age of the book for him. I seem to think that every dealer made version of this effect that i have come across, has been constructed from a soft back album, and that the usually have a pocket in the book to house the stamps.

I saw an advert for a device that rolls cards in the last week or so.
Cant remember where. you could always try a long split cotter pin.
shove the card in the split, and turn.

I would use thinner cards too.Manipulation cards , for example dont have teh thick core, and will roll up easy.

Neither...although those techniques can be used alongside the main premmise of this excelent routine.
The method disclosed, is exactly as used by many of the mediums out there, and involves no trickery, just clear and consice performance, and audience management skills.

To me, this is not only unethical, but It's very Lazy magic. If you can't be bothered to learn how to do the electric chairs properly, you dont really have any business dealing with spectators.

I had an accident with a Disecto once. It fell off the top of the cupboard where i stored it, and the pointy bit of the blade imbedded it's self into my right arm, hitting the bone. just checked, and it's not listed in his show from 1933.
But, it is shown on the cover of his pitch book, complete with the Buzz saw. so i think it's something introduced after 1933.
but only just, as Goldin died in 1939.

there is a recent publication called The Art, Theory and Practice of Magic - Stage Illusions, written by Masklyne and devant. I am lead to believe that this is our magic, under a different title.Ive not seen it to compare, but the contents sounds the same.

Paul? :) Well,in this case it wouldn't work,since this particular routine is Ripper based.Paul does point out that you Dont have to be in white chapel in order to hold a ripper seance, since if it were to exist, the spirit world is everywhere. but the methods given could be adapted for any themes.
