Re: Is Johnson Products out of business?
I remember visiting Johnson in the late 90's because I wanted to get a Morgan shell. Met Mike Caveney there who was so incredibly friendly. He offered me a tour in the workshop and I saw things about manufacturing I never realized. At that time the silver gaffs were virtualy impossible to get in Eur...

Re: Don't Miss Your Chance to Buy the Best "Dean's Box" Ever Made
They look very nice indeed! I remember 20 years ago I visited Dean. He showed me a giant box someone made, it was like 3 times the size of the regular Dean's Box. The guy who made it thought the regular box was too small to use on a large stage, so he thought "I'll make a box times three...&quo...

OOP book by The Miracle Factory (Todd Karr & Vito Lupo) in almost new condition. (The book is new only it has been standing on my bookshelves for almost 17 years.) I did some investigating and I almost fainted of the prices they ask. Would like $100,00 for it, plus S/H sent from the Netherlands....

Ha, what a coincidence, that the moment I posted my original question, the box seemed to have been used in Fool Us and has become much in demand. It was a rather obscure effect when I first noticed it, about a year ago. I let it go for now.

Thank you guys. It was indeed the white box (Varol) that I was looking for. Of course I also checked its predecessor, the one that Boretti offers. But I think that one does not offer the collapsible features, and it does not look like anything I would present in my corporate lecture. So there goes m...

Haptic illusion?
Hello all, Very difficult to describe what I am looking for. There seems to be an illusion which is based on touch. I've never seen it in real live, only read about it once (and forgot where I read it). The performer places a box on a table which (supposedly) can be opened from the front, and is als...

Re: Problems with wooden two-piece wands?
I've been using a beautiful two piece wand for more than 12 years now. Polished ebony with solid silver tips. It was made in Alaska by a pool-cue maker, very expensive, very gorgeous in a classic looking way. I've been using this wand extensively for cups and balls, jeu des tomates, cylinder and coi...

Re: Favorite Coin Routines
My personal favorite plot is Roth's Portable Hole. I have two versions, one for formal stand up and one for strolling. It's one of the most brilliant presentational concepts in magic and one of the most under-explored. As for coin magic I like to watch, there have been two releases this year that g...

Did anyone of you consider the rather large difference in "naturalness" when putting a hand in and removing it, from jeans compared to non-jeans-trousers? If I would putting something away in my jeans, my hand would not enter the pocket at all. My fingers would just dip in to leave the obj...

Thank you Dan for clearing up yet another Tommy Wonder another mystery. You're becoming the go to guy for all things TW. I agree with Erdnasephile that Tommy's cups looked a bit tall to be standard PF cups, but then again, Busby tinkered with the design of the PF cups when he was selling them. The ...

Re: Big Bang Loading Theory for Chop Cup
Hi, Dan: Thanks so much for the real world report. Questions: how hard did you set the chop cup down between loads? Did you relax your body language as well when it got set down? What changes in timing did you make as you experimented with the bang? Did you ever get busted on the final load? If so,...

This was a very interesting read. I consider myself to be more of an intuitive performer and I use what "feels" right to me. I always did the silent loading when performing the chop-cup. I did it without too much thought, but I admit that seeing Tommy Wonder a lot must have influenced me. ...

Another coins across source that uses beautiful backclip/inertia recovery is Homer Liwag's Coin One (I think it was first published as 4 coins and a Filippino in Kenner's Magic Man Examiner). I've been doing that since the late 90's and it is remarkable how little problems exist in spite of the back...

I've been performing the fingertips coins across since Kenner's book came out in the early 90's. And I studied almost all variations. Have you ever tried this with a (hollow) steel ball?
I know the lucite ball is what is normally used in contact juggling, but I've never seen it done with a zombie type ball.

Sounds like you are adding a silver e[ to the c/s/b gaff. Pretending to pick up the bottom coin from a spread on the table is not quite as natural as one might expect and the audience does not always follow the implied actions. That is right. It does not look good. But try this instead: Hold the th...
