Re: Riffle Shuffle Work Using The Triumph Shuffle
Thank goodness for Dustin. The current section of the thread was actually 'reinvigorated' by Mr Goat who seems to thrive on this kind of bear baiting cheered on it seems by the likes of Kent Gunn who for the most part seems a very committed, skillful and respectful magician. Glen may irritate some b...

Re: Steven's Cull
Hi Glenn, Sorry for not replying sooner. Christmas preparations have me running around chasing my own tail. We seem to be in broad agreement about these matters Glenn. I think part of the fascination with the Stevens is also its connection with the Scarne ace cutting myth. Karl Fulves thinks Scarne ...

Re: Steven's Cull
Hi Matt, I thought your culling technique was excellent. The problem with the Stevens is that it has little magical application and probably no real hustling application these days either. It has been speculated that Stevens developed and used the method as a faro dealer. But who really knows. It is...

Re: Riffle Shuffle Work Using The Triumph Shuffle
Hello Mark, Greetings from that far flung corner of the empire, the UK. It is most refereshing to have you on the forum. I am not surprised that many of Glenn's detractors have temporarily gone to ground. Personally, I would be terrified to go up against someone with your mischievous wit. Glenn is a...

Re: Ackerman & Erdnase
Hi Yves, I have the whole set and am delighted with the quality, skill and high production values etc. Its also very accessible. I think there are a number of reasons why reviews are not forthcoming. Here are a couple. The big one is the sheer time, size and scope required for a comprehensive review...
Re: ERDNASE
Hello Roger, It was not my intention to irritiate or stir things up. I suspect I would be agreeing with you. If the only argument for getting round the physical discrepancies is bad memory then that would be most unconvincing given all the other information regarding Smiths testimony. I have ordered...
Re: ERDNASE
Hi Bill, Thanks for your reply. This balanced picture does seem to fit with the general discussion. Its your last 'third' point that particularly intrigues me as Mr Whalley suggests he can explain those physical inconsistencies in a way that continues support the M F Andrews hypothesis. Does anyone ...
Re: ERDNASE
Hi Roger, I've just spent four days solid with a practice mat on my knee and bee cards at the ready watching and going through the whole set from beginning to end. The standard is superb. Allen Ackermans handling is very clear and workmanlike throughout and for my money he captures much of the essen...
Re: ERDNASE
I would like to ask a few questions regarding the excellent interview Geno Munari conducted with Mr Bart Whaley on the Erdnase DVD's. This whole project is monumental in my opinion. Towards the end of the interview Mr Whaley suggests it is possible to account for the discrpancy in Smiths description...

Re: Nash Reloaded Done and Available!
Hi Dustin, Yes, your tribute to Martin is included on pages 135-136 of the ebook. I completely agree with Chris Stolz on the quality of this book. It is such an interesting combination of strong card effects, essays on practice and presentation, stories from those card men who have had the pleasure ...

Re: This week on Cogitations-- The Second Deal
Andru's bottom deal on Cogitations is marvellous in my opinion. His bottoms are almost identical to his tops. This has to be one of the most deceptive bottom deals I have ever seen. I would liked to have seen his technique applied to dealing out bottoms to other players rather than just dealt onto a...

Re: This week on Cogitations-- The Second Deal
I agree that Richard Turners second deal is amazing but it is not a strike second. Mr Luvisi's strike second is incredible. Both styles of dealing seconds have there place in card magic and both need to be seen to be appeciated.

Re: Card Manipulators
Hi Cooper, You must check out the encyclopedia of card flourishes by Jerry Cestkowski. His work is amazing. The book really is an awesome source and seems to cover almost every flourish known to magic-kind. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.flourishman.com/">http://www.flourishman.com/<...

Re: Scarne's aces
Hi Thwala, I seem to remember a magician posting on the MagicCafe forum who asked Bill Malone outright how he had achieved this ace cutting routine. His reply was something like, 'If I tell you, you will only be disappointed'. Now, to me this does not sound like spectacular and difficult sleight of ...
