Re: Marked Cards Article
I attended the Magic Circle at Chenies Mews when I lived in London in the mid 1970s and there was to my Canadian senses a certain amount of pomposity and old boy vibe. Of course there was much to be learned from some members like Bobby Bernard. And I did spend an amazing evening at a Magic Circle di...

The most magical and baffling rising card I've ever seen (and somewhere I have a Devano Deck) is Jeff McBride's Kundalini Rising Cards. And you can do this with a borrowed deck. No, the spectator cannot name any card but he can take any card (a difference only a magician can appreciate).

Under U.K. law there is no specific "work for hire" provision. Instead, the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, 1988 establishes that: (a) Copyright in works created by employees during the course of their employment vests in the employer. (b) For independent contractors, ownership depends...

I am continually amazed at how Philippe comes up with references. We may have to preserve his brain in a jar to ensure future rerences are available. Here's a false cut I devised but it may be a reinvention. I was trying to improve the Ose Cut. False Cut the deck as follows: • Consider three positio...

Reveen was my client and we worked together to make it possible for him to open at the Royal York. This was quite an honor for me because it completed a circle that had started when I was about 12. At that time, the Hypnosis Act was still a problem so Reveen was doing a show just across the Ontario ...

Reference For A Spelling Trick
I'm looking for a reference for a trick I dimly recall. A packet of cards is in play. The magician spells a card and it turns up but whenever the spectator tries to do the same thing, a Joker turns up.

I've told the creator he should use his abilities creating magic for laymen rather than working to fool magicians. "Magicians" are not a homogeneous bunch, they range across a spectrum so what might fool one end of the spectrum might not fool the other end.

Consider this effect for a much superior location and identification. AGAOG (Bob Farmer 1997) EFFECT: You hand out a deck to three spectators. They can examine and shuffle it thoroughly. There is nothing wrong with it. It is not prepared, marked, gaffed or wired in any way. It is not stacked and the...

The video should be used as an example of how not to perform magic. Who cares if the guy finds the card, what's really been lost is not the card but an engaging persona. When the guy publishes a method for that, I might spend a few bucks, but I think my money will be safe for some time to come.

I hate instructional videos. Well, maybe not all of them, but most. They are boring and worse, they are boring for long periods of time. An hour of video = one page of instructions. Re: Is this really a debate? (Genii Aug 2022, page 60)
Aside from the veracity of grandfather stories, the entire premise is boring. At least come up with something interesting. For example, my cellmate at San Quentin was a card cheat and since we had a lot of spare time out on the yard, he showed me a few things that I'd like to show you. Or, I had to ...
