Eddy Goldfarb

While I know this isn't magic related, Richard gave the OK. Eddy is an inventor of many toys and novelties, including the wind up Yakkity teeth and the Vac U Form, in a big list of inventions. At 102, he just wrote a book of shorter stories that you might be interested in. His daughter, Lyn Goldfarb...

Re: Video of Roth's Standup Copper/Silver Classic?

Kainoa's Palm to Palm changes are explained in his Coins 101 Copper/Silver chapter. Some good information and he also shows a good change using finger palm. He mentioned the Palm to Palm change might be the hardest move in coin magic.

As to the duration of the tour, I don't know. I believe that he did do occasional lectures afterward. Not sure if the coins were something special for the tour, or something that was more available.

Re: Dai Vernon Tour Info

I went to the Farewell Lecture in Boston hosted by Steve Dacri. He turned it into a convention with Irv Weiner, Sid Radner, and Walter Gibson. I believe this was most likely the same convention Max was at, because of his mention of Walter Gibson. They had a stack of photos and asked that people just...

Thanks John, I think you nailed it with Captain Kangaroo. They weren't a regular feature, maybe more of a filler. I don't recall explanations either, but that's stretching the memory bank pretty far.

I would think a few decades ago, it wouldn't have been such an issue as it is today. People would lick their fingers to make change, count bills, or shuffle paperwork. Not to mention, wearing gloves for food prep wasn't even considered. Not saying that in todays world, any of that would go over well.

I didn't mention the dealer as others think their coins are great (from the same dealer). So, not fair to the dealer. My like of real, silver coins is probably clouding a fair judgement.

Re: Odd Coin Question

I bought some Walking Liberty replicas and a couple of gaffs, to take a look. The replica ungaffed coins didn't look too bad, didn't look or sound like silver though. The gaffs were terrible. The magnetic coin was quite thick, and the shell was distorted. Hard pass.

You do need to be careful, a lot will try to lowball you. I had a couple of people interested in a Lassen set I have, one offered less than I pait and I know Lassen right now is commanding (yes, and getting) high prices.
