Re: Mirabill

Thanks, Harry. Not that you could tell from this thread, but Mirabill has been extraordinarily well received and reviewed. It has served to inspire many mentalists and magicians to design and share with me their own ploys. So many in fact, that I've released The Mirabill Supplement. The Supplement i...

Re: Mirabill

Why pay 15 dollars for one Miraskil variation? Here is why, according to Peter Duffie: "I grinned widely as I read your elegant solution. Far from adding any complications, you have managed to simplify and actually improve an established classic card trick. I am sure Stewart James would have lo...

Re: The Hanussen Proof Redux

Kim, Let me know when you figure out a way to control when a brainstorm comes; I'll help you market the method and we'll get rich. :p Have you performed Hanussen? Or, more like I've done, taken aspects to apply to your own work? Also, where did your research Erik Hanussen take you and what else did ...

Re: The Hanussen Proof Redux

Andy & Avocat, Issues with Bob's delivery of products are old news. I feel I should be able to simply review an ebook without having to cover the business end every time. Especially when it has been covered ad nauseum. For example, every review of Becker's "Stunners Plus" needn't cover...

Re: The Hanussen Proof Redux

You know Andy, I considered prefacing this post with a comment to the effect of "lets stay with the topic and not digress to other issues" but I figured that most people would do so without my having to make such a statement. Don't get me wrong, Andy, I have my own history of complications...

The Hanussen Proof Redux

I recently checked out The Store at Bob Cassidys website, www.mastermindreader.com/cd. While most of his newer releases have sold out, I was surprised to see some older ebooks are still available. I have a few of these and thought Id offer up some reviews because there is some grade A material withi...

Re: Penguin's Coin Bender (Boa)

Allen, you are right, "countless" is over the top but was used to drive home a point, not out of "defensiveness". Certainly you are correct that we could probably count the number of mentalists who agree with what I said, of which we would apparently have to count you! Hmmmm........

Re: Penguin's Coin Bender (Boa)

Scott, A couple of points. It is Ray Koenig's Bent Cent, not Kentons, though he does market it and describe a handling in one of his books. Second, if you are going to have someone sign a coin, you might as well just come out and tell them you are going to be switching it because that is the implici...

This was over at Ted Leslie's site in the Mentalism section. Make sure you read paragraph four: "I know plenty of amazing card tricks but I'd like to find out how to perform the one where the magician produces a pack of cards by extending his arm in front of him and snapping his wrist in an up-...

I'm a bit of a booktest nut. To name a few I have and have performed: Flashback, Ultimate Flashback, Insight, Final Exam, Unfaked BookTest, Hidden Agenda, MOAB and Double Vision. I also have quite a few force books and own Seafire but have never performed it. This is no criticism of Seafire, I have ...

Re: Magic Squares (presentation etc.)

I have two presentations that take the magic square out of the realm of a clever math trick and I have found they get a great response. On a previous post on this subject, Larry Becker complimented me and said that my approach is original as far as he knows. Doug Dyment, my hero when it comes to the...

I find getting the theme of what was written plays more strongly, perhaps more real(?), than revealing the word itself. And, as per Lesley, et.al., to incorporate this theme into a brief cold reading is the most powerful of all in my experience. Back to technique for a moment: My favorite instant ac...

Key Melt by Arlen Studios

Folks, Keith Lack has exceeded all expectations with Key Melt. He is way too modest in the ad at his site for this wonderful product. First of all, he stated that you rub the shaft of the key before it bends. This is a choice, you don't have to do this at all. You simply hold the key by the crown an...

It's Patrick Thomas Murphy's modification of the gimmick in Mastering the Art of Close-Up Magic and Magical Voyages, which I believe qualifies it as a new gimmick. The handling is thus simplified.

While not addressed in the instructions, I don't see why you couldn't as long as the foreign currency is the size of US currency (this would be to change the foreign currency with a US dollar). I also don't see any reason you couldn't make the gimmick up in foreign currency to cause the change betwe...

Eugene's Last Dollar

I recently picked up Eugene's La$t Dollar and am very pleased with this new handling for a favorite classic, Grant's Slow Motion Bill Transposition. For years I'd used Eugene's handling from his classic The Craft of Magic but had let it fall by the wayside as my interest turned primarily to mentalis...

I hope you are right, but my sense was that the comments about Andy's age had the flavor of a put down of both of them. I don't know Craig one way or another to take up for him, but i couldn't let what i saw as an attack on Andy go undefended. Also, i shared this with someone else before i posted an...

I tend to be a lurker but every now and then something is said that neccessitates coming out of the shadows. Attacking the age of Andy Leviss is a typical last resort of the scoundrel (i know the focus was on Craig but that just underscores the underhandeness of the comments on Andy's age). Take a l...
