Evan,

This is a listing on the IBM membership page that links to an email address. However it doesn’t say how old it is. It’s worth a try I suppose.

Mr. Ash,

With all due respect, I’m curious about your post. Last I read you passed away in July 2020.

A couple resources come to mind. Charlie Miller published a routine in Genii’s Magicana in No. 48, November 1968
Also there’s a booklet by Eddie Joseph which may be available through second hand dealers. Supreme published a booklet as part of their How To series which is available through lybrary.com.

I too had a Houdini’s Magic kit Like Bill, all that remains is the book. The first book I was given was The Golden Book of Magic by the Great Merlini (Clayton Rawson). It wasn’t until I was exposed to the Jinx and Phoenix magazines that I realized who Rawson was.

There was a Uno based Six Card Repeat effect in Magic Magazine. I can’t recall when but I believe it was in David Kaye’s column. The numbers corresponded to the counts in each repetition.

"How Time Flys " - from the U.F. Grant: 'Presto Clock Vanish' prop; Grant/Mak. I don't know if the classic 'Presto Clock Vanish' is a prop that Mak still sells; but, if they do, I hope they never change the misspelling on the prop - if they did, it might just ruin all of magic. Jim, It lo...

They’re still being sold and popular in the festival crowd. Here’s an example: https://flowtoys.com/props/wands. Jeff McBride talks about them on his Magic at the Edge DVD set. Strictly my opinion - dancing cane is one of those tricks that the only person fooled is the person using it. :)

Of the three components in the smoke production unit, two of the three have design issues. The original heater coils died quickly. SansMinds has since released...

Book dealer, Andy Greget, is located in Scottsdale. He doesn't have a website or email so a phone call is required. Easely's Costume and Fun Shop is still in business I believe. The caveat is that it's magic section is small.

Yes - I concur with the others. There are many wonderful restaurants.

Re: M-U-M to be reduced to 10 issues each year.

Its most likely an issue of cost control. SAM as well as many social organizations are struggling. Membership is aging. Younger people do not seem interested in club meetings. It would not be unexpected that at some point in the future clubs like IBM, SAM, Eagles, Elks, and others will vanish.

The gimmick was a Ed Mellon Jim Swoger creation. I purchased one as a kid in the late 60's from Swoger's House of Enchantment. Swoger made it look like a miracle - thus the name, Miracle Money. I believe Meir credits them.

Maybe I am missing something but if there is an act or event at a convention one doesn't want to see, then simply skip that event. Or choose not to attend the convention. Last I checked there are no magic police rounding people up and making them attend. :)
