Re: The Future of Magic Conventions

At the moment scientists don't know why a significant number of people who are infected show no symptoms and never get sick. The virus is new, and it will take them a while to figure that out. I have come across two theories that might explain that. However they are only theories that are being exp...

The main appeal of magic conventions is to socialise. Seeing the dealers, the lectures and shows are secondary, though occasionally a big name will draw extra delegates.

Sadly this does not surprise me in the least. The knowledge of any kind of magical history in contemporary magicians (of the int...

Distributing Free Links to Copyrighted Material

Interesting to see how many magicians who regularly complain about illegal copies of magic books are now on Facebook distributing free links to a pdf of John Bolton's book and encouraging people not to buy it.

Re: Why is editing so bad in magic publications?

Even with the best intentions it is, as Richard said, difficult to eliminate all errors. As John Bowden said the content is most important but that does not excuse promiscuous illiteracy and the lack of duty of care to the reader. You expect a magician to have rehearsed his act and I expect an autho...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've always looked on editing as making sure the meaning is clear and flows, proofreading as making sure spelling and punctuation are correct.
