Danny Gans
Did the late singer/impressionist Danny Gans ever do magic as a part of his act? (there's a line in the Apr 2008 Magic Circular that sort of implies he did.)

Re: The Unknown Life of Karl Fulves
Are you sure, Richard? While the content of the speech (the script/text of the talk, and any slides he may have used) would belong to Matt or his estate, if the recording was made by the Magic Circle, then the copyright to the recording would belong to them. Copyright resides in whoever makes the wo...

Re: The Unknown Life of Karl Fulves
Ben's endorsement is a good thing, but when Matt died, his rights to the video would go to his estate. So wouldn't his widow's permission be necessary at this point (or other living family member?)

AJM -- are you the same size? Michael Dirda has been reviewing books for the Washington Post for decades. He's an email friend, and I thought his review (from the Post ) of the book version of The Prestige would be of interest here. He's not a magician himself, but is (as you'll see) certainly an in...

It turns out he also wrote (and self-published) a book about the adaptation of his book into Nolan's movie. Prices on Amazon are sky high, but an acquaintance is going to check with his widow (after an appropriate wait) to see if it is still available. I'll post here when I find out.

Re: ERDNASE
Just curious if there are any extant examples of this supposed swindle that anyone has found;in other words, an author's name, which when reversed gives an apparently legitimate name, but is in fact still a pseudonym for the real author. I'm looking at you, Bill Mullins... In every example of a rev...

The bio for actor Paul Dooley on his IMDB page says that he worked as a magician and clown at one point in his life. Can anyone here add to that? I'm always interested in knowing about people who are prominent in other fields who were also magicians.

Doug -- if you still follow this thread, here are two items to add to your master list. The Magic Mirror -- I've never seen one, but it is reviewed in Genii Jan 1981. Apparently it is a sheet of aluminized mylar to be rolled into a tube, and placed on any of a selection of distorted pictures. The pi...

I hadn't realized these interviews were so old. But it does explain why some of the people were more youthful looking than I know them to be. (and FWIW, footage of me from 2015 wouldn't need to be as much of a wide shot as it would now, either . . . ) Give David Ben's comments about rights and the p...

Kreskin ESP Magic Set
I've been researching the psychological force of a drawing of a circle inside a triangle. It's often associated with Uri Geller (Randi's 1975 book on Geller has him using it as early as 1972). The earliest I see it in print is in Martin Gardner's Aug 1973 Scientific American column. Kreskin is repor...

Re: ERDNASE
A review of How to Find Zodiac by Jarrett Kobek, a book proposing that Paul Doerr was the Zodiac killer. Its relevance here is that there is (to my mind) a great deal in common between how we magicians advocate various candidates as being Erdnase, and how the Zodiac cottage industry does the same wi...

He lectured for our local club maybe 20 years ago. Walked in, took out a big bottle of Elmer's glue, squirted some in his hands, and rubbed it through his hair like styling mousse. (It turns out that hair cream looks a lot like Elmer's glue.)
Great lecture.
