TV Magician Almost Raped at Magic Castle Hotel
So says the headline on TMZ.com. Yikes. Story goes on to read: TMZ has learned that a female magician -- part of an ensemble of magicians who were supposed to teach celebrities magic tricks -- was a victim of attempted rape at a landmark Hollywood hotel. The cast and crew were staying at the Magic C...

Re: Bruce Cervon Has Died
The first time I ever saw a magic show in-person I was almost 12 years old. A magician who befriended me snuck me into the Castle on a Sunday night, where I waited in the backstage area of the Close-Up Gallery until each show began. That magician was Bruce, and his was the first show of the evening....

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded. You were a major help. I purchased dehumidifers and humidity gauges, and it's made a world of difference. Mr. Verner, My apologies. Earlier you said the book was "far from error free" and that many of the captions are "screwed up." That did not sound microscopic to me. Nor has our team nor our readers been able to find a plethora of errors. We have found 13 typos and 1 factual error,...

I'd like to second Richard's comment. We care deeply about every error. The book has over 280,000 words and hundreds of captions. Excellent point, Dustin. You're absolutely right. In May, 1982, Vernon writes, "Might mention here that I saw Ardo, the frogman, perform Split Fans at least half a dozen years before Cardini and others exhibited it." Seems like The Professor is trying to underscore the credit he's giving t...

My money's on Ardo too. Here's what The Professor wrote in his November,1969 Vernon Touch column in Genii: The first time I ever saw Split Fans, which was before I ever met Cardini and probably before Channing Pollock was even born, was shown to me by a fellow named Ardo the Frog Man. He was an Aust...
