Don’t knock it folks - the unit cost of producing only one deck with this gizmo is still likely to be cheaper than those offered by CARC or Ellusionist.

Re: Memorization
There’s a great app, Memo Deck, which I used to learn the Mnemonica stack. I’m fortunate to have a fairly good memory so maybe that helped too. Essentially you learn the stack gradually by memorising the stack in blocks of 5 or 6 cards. Also includes nice little features which tests by card or stack...

Very interesting indeed - thanks both.
I do remember Magic Books By Post and indeed purchased books from them back in the day. I had no idea who the proprietors were although I believe the business was taken over by others latterly.

I acquired my copy of SJIP from the collection of John Fisher some years ago. It's signed by Stewart James (No 51 of 200). There is another inscription included which reads: 'To John With thanks for his friendship. Donald & Betty May 1990' Any idea who Donald and Betty might be? Cheers Andrew

How about a double-decker Phoenix Deck with a repeating 2 of Spades as the rear card?
(The red cards being used don’t look like Bikes).
I don’t own one of these decks - could you put one in the hands of a spectator?

The Miracle Poker Machine and documentation on eBay (link provided above by Erdnasephile) is still available after failing to sell on two previous occasions.
Anyone willing to bet $300 to find out if it still works?

Re: Is Persi Diaconis Having Us On?
I've been having a look for 'list' type apps that have the functionality required however I've drawn a blank so far.
May be better with a database app where an indexed table (or tables) could be created and a query written to extract the required record when the inputs have been entered.

Peek a card in a nano-second.
Pore over a crib sheet with coded entries for twenty minutes or so (at least if my eyesight is anything to go by) while asking the spectators to chat amongst themselves.
