For those of you who don't know, Mr. James will be releasing a 7 DVD set (almost 8 1/2 hours)covering virtually all of the material in EATCT. This will include his performances of the 14 tricks explained in the book.
Mr. James doesn't yet know the release date.

I'm wondering if Wes has heard about the Ackerman DVDs yet?

Take care, Ian

Folks,
You may want to check out this thread , which discussed all this stuff almost a year ago.

I'm not sure just saying you're going to release something gives you any sort of lock on it, especially when you're almost a year late on your stated release.

Having said that, regardless of who comes out with what on Expert, I'll be waiting for the Ackerman stuff, as I'm sure many will.

When you're working on a project with material in the public domain, it's best to keep a low profile since anyone else can come in and scoop you.

For those familiar with the James version, is this still being put out as a Magic Makers thing?

Yes, Rob Stiff was the one who initially approached Wes about the project, so it's always been under the Magic Makers banner. Last I heard (about a month ago) they were waiting on the DVDs to come back from the duplication plant. Once it comes back, Wes needs to approve the final product before it gets shipped out.

That's too bad, makes it a tough decision...I'm a huge fan of Wesley and his work but don't want to support MM...

To add one more thought:

Again, I have a deep amount of respect for Mr. James ' work...what confuses me is that someone who is so vigilant about protecting his own work from theft with exotic DRM ends up creating product for one of the largest and most shameless of magic thieves...

The very talented Denis Behr has posted a video impression on youtube:

That Denis Behr video is the closest thing to a video assassination that I have ever seen. No one will ever buy the video after that.

That Youtube video was spectacular. I wonder if Wes would do a video response.

Oh, wait...

I ended up checking out some of the other "Erdnase" and "artifice" types of tutorials. Man, there are a lot of people who don't know [censored] about the deceptive handling of playing cards! The virgins are running the whorehouse.

It may well be that those who do not play cards for money are making comment about things which need to have no "effect" other than winning hands for themselves or their associate.

Not so sure real advantage players are out to pass off half baked goods for the few measly bucks magicians are offering when a few real games would make them more without endangering their required lack of reputation. As if teaching conjurors would suffice for a pension plan?

Brad, there is Jonathan translator here:

www.JonathanTownsendDecoded.com

Jonathan maintains it himself. You simply enter the sentence or paragraph you find puzzling and a plain-English, suitable-for-Magic-Cafe readers explanation emerges.
