July Issue of Genii Mailed--Have you Received It?

Discuss general aspects of Genii.

The issue landed in Indiana today. Terrific cover, and great idea to rerun the Jay Marshall story. The 1960 cover issue on Jay also had a great story on him, only 2 pages, by Frances.

Very good issue. If you don't have a subscription, make sure you pick this one up at the magic shop.

Received July issue today, Saturday, June 18th, in the San Fernando Valley.

Pardon my ignorance. Is that an Earle Oakes drawing on the cover? A credit didn't leap out at me.

Sam, no the cover drawing is not by Earle Oakes. The artist wishes to remain anonymous (and this was stated in Genii Speaks).

I got the issue today. I like the Hirschfield-esque cover drawing. I have a guess as to who drew it but I'll keep it to myself.

Dustin made that card cheating dvd sound like comedy release of the year.

And I thought Jamy Swiss had a sharp tounge. I'm

not putting him or Dustan down. It's good to see

people not be condesending and call a spade a

spade. I am so used to wishy-washy Linking Ring

P.W. type reviews I applaude Jamy Swiss, Michael

Close and now Dustin !!! ....... Mike Walsh

The business about trying to properly time shipping so that neither the individual subscribers nor the dealers are unhappy is an impossible task.
So, in order to try and bring some balance to the universe, so not too many subscribers see the new issue in a shop before they receive their copy, we are mailing the dealer copies about five days after the subscriber copies (because the dealer copies go by UPS, which is a much quicker service).

Great issue! Recieved mine 2 days ago here in Santa Cruz, CA.

By the way, I think delaying the dealers' issues is brilliant. Ever since I subscribed to WIRED Magazine, it's pissed me off to see issues at my local supermarket a week before I get it. Makes me feel less wired.

Thanks Richard

My copy of Genii finally made it to the distant south banks of the Potomac in the hinterlands of Northern Virginia today....

...a truly outstanding issue!! I may have to spend more than 2 hours on this one.

H & R's copies arrived today. Can you explain the logic of delaying shipment to shops? Since shops purchase multiple subsciptions (12 in our case), why should our copies be held back at all? Retail subscribers get the benefit of direct delivery and reduced cost per issue, the fact that they are shipped by different means which may delay home subscriber delivery would seem to be a fair trade off. On the other hand, brick and mortar shops would surely like to have copies as soon as possible, and many dealers (ourselves included) not only commit to multiple subscriptions but advertise as well. So why the change in policy?

got my copy today....6/20. at magic inc.does this new policy mean every yahoo in alabama who can write his name on a mailbox and owns a svengali deck is now entitled to get his copy a week or more before the magic shops?

especially ironic, as those of us who have patronized jay's store for years had to wait this long to get the issue that was virtually dedicated to him.
