FS: A small items, packet tricks and Hardini Nest of Boxes-mint

Your doorway to those rare collectibles that everyone is searching for: books, props, posters, cards, and paper ephemera are all here for you to buy and sell.

Postby Mike McErlain » 10/25/12 11:06 PM

These were only available in a very limited edition. A very clever version
of the classic effect. Here's the full description:

Hardinis Nest of Boxes is the ultimate way to reproduce a marked coin or a borrowed ring. It is one of the strongest tricks in parlor or stage magic! The ring reappears in the innermost of 5 nesting boxes.

What makes this set so special is the fact that the largest box is locked and needs to be opened with a key. In fact, you can hand a spectator the largest box and key and, from there on, you do not touch anything! The spectator opens the biggest box and finds inside the next size, etc. Each of the smaller size boxes is strapped with rubber bands, which need to be removed before the box can be opened. All this is done by the spectator until, in the last box, he finds the vanished ring or coin.

Remember: All the boxes can be handled and examined as long as the spectator wishes. There are no traps or secret compartments anywhere! After you hand him the largest box and key you can leave the room (if you so choose).

Features:
The set is expertly crafted by Hardini in Germany from fine mahogany woods.
Each polished solid wood box is elegantly lined with rich red velveteen.
The largest box is 5.125 x 5.125 x 3.25;" the smallest box measures 1.75 x 1.75 x 1.125".
The routine can be done with any ring or coin that fits thru the load gimmick. A wedding band works best. Very limited supply.

This set is brand new, complete.

Card Riser from Italy
After having thoroughly cut and shuffled a deck of cards, approach three spectators and have each freely select a card. Have them signed and reinserted in the deck; shuffle and cut. Moments later, a card rises from the deck. Turn the deck over, showing the card which is the one chosen by the first spectator. Reassemble the deck of cards. It cuts itself into two parts. The cut is executed exactly at the second selected card. Insert the cards into the card case and hand everything to a spectator. One card will rise slowly while you are about two meters away. Obviously it is the card selected by the third spectator.
Comes with full instructions and red backed gimmick.
Full deck not included.

Magic Monte Dominos
Performer diplays 3 Dominoes, two of which show double five spots, and one a double one spot. The Dominoes are mixed, and the spectator asked to spot the double one Domino. He fails to do this. Then one Domino is elminated, but he fails to find the one spot. Finally the second five spot is eliminated but spectator still cannot find the one spot. And all the Dominoes can be examined. Easy to do.
Comes with a total of 5 dominoes, including gimmicked versions.
$10

The Age Test Black Hat Magic
This is another one of those interesting items that originally was made by Black Hat Magic in the 1980's and early 90's, and has recently been re-released by Forum Novelties. It is more of a puzzle than a magical effect, but I find it amazing that something like this can be constructed, and find lay audiences also appreciate its ingenuity, even if it is not very magical. The first time I got one of these, back in the 1990's, it came only with japanese (or maybe it was mandarin) instructions. It took me a long time to figure out how it was supposed to work. Lucky for you, it now comes with english instructions
So what does it do? Well, the spectator looks at each card, and places it faceup or facedown in a pile depending on whether they see their age among the numbers shown on the card. When this sortation process is done, the card pile is picked up and turned over to show the spectator's age in a window on the back. This works for any age up to 99. As I said, not very magical, but very mysterious that every possibility can be accounted for. You can add a bit more mystery by not revealing the age number in the window at the back of the pile -- just glimpse it and name their age. But I find that the very fact the correct number comes up for any age is what audiences find most impressive. Try this one as an interlude between more magical effects, and you will be pleasantly surprised how well it goes over with lay audiences. Plays surprisingly well for older kids, too. Easy to do, no memory work, etc.
$10

Steel Ball Thru Bolt chrome finish

NOTE: the version I have did not come with a drawstring bag. It is in the original packaged box.

Passe-Passe Matches Chad Long
Currently unavailable.
Two matchboxes are shown to the spectators. One is clearly empty and the other is full of matches. The boxes are set about a foot apart on the table and a hand is waved over each.
Instantly, the matches vanish from the full box and reappear in the empty box! The drawers of the boxes are now closed again. Another magical pass is made, and just as before, the matches jump from one box to the other! Ingeniously self working with full instructions.
$15

Webers Key Johnson Precision Magic Products
Michael Weber developed this routine in 1980 when he was regularly using Pressley Guitars version of the Cigarette Through Quarter.
The performer shows a key on the chain of a plastic coin purse. Removing the key from the chain, the performer shows that the hole is too small for anything larger than the point of a pen. Placing the large end of the pen against the hole in the key, the magician causes the pen to pass completely through the tiny hole that is obviously too small to contain it. Removing the pen, the hole is still too small to permit the pen to fit through it. Holding the key flat on his palm, the chain of the key case is touched to the key. The key almost jumps up, linking itself back onto the chain of the coin purse which can be handed to the spectator for a thorough inspection.
Comes with full performance instructions and precision made keys. No longer available.

Further research has revealed this is a "Thayer Club Junior Side Stand" as stated in their catalogue.

It is missing a free floating flange that rests on top of the base, thus hiding the screw heads. The screws are painted the same gold color as the base and legs and are barely visible.
The absence of this piece is purely cosmetic and does not hinder the functionality, setup or teardown of this table.
The condition is very fine and it would make a stiking display stand for equally aged props or even a antique themed show.

Considering the missing flange, I will lower the price to $125, including shipping to the US or Canada.

Black Friday sale!

Thayer table reduced to $99, shipped.

Added:

Emergency - Mak Magic

Manufacturer reads:

Spread the deck face down on the table. Ask the spectator to choose a card and sign it. The card goes back into the deck which is shuffled and spread on the table. Now you will try to find their card with the help of your "medical assistant."
Take out a small car and show everybody that it is an ambulance!

Ask the spectator to "drive" the ambulance over the cards. Suddenly the light flash and the siren sounds! The spectator stops the car. You can't locate any particular card because of the spread, so you remove about ten cards in the area where the car has stopped. These cards are arranged in a new row.

Once again the spectator move the car over the cards. On ONE card only, the siren starts to sound and the light flash. "This is an emergency! What card did you take?" you ask the spectator. When they answer, you ask them to turn over the card - it is the signed card!

Includes full instructions, car and gimmick.
Deck of cards not included.
The lights and siren actually work!
