Sidney came to the preview dinner for the Houdini Art and Magic exhibition at the Skirball. It was good to see him there.

Does anyone know how old Sid was? Magipedia only says he was born in 1919. Did he turn 92 yet this year?

I forgot that I had an interview of Sid on You Tube. There are four parts. Here is the link to part 1. Some really interesting stuff.

I may have read it too fast--did the N.Y. Times mention that Sid was on the Tonight Show demonstrating Gambler's cheats?
An obit in the N.Y. Times--pretty good, Sid!
Every year, I would be astounded at the way the public and the press bit into Sid's Houdini Seance hokum.
I think he did more to preserve the legend of Houdini than anyone else--even Ed Saint.
I visited him once in Holyoke and he visited me a couple of times in Hollywood. He started doing card tricks on one occasion--and he was good.
My condolences to his family and friends, particularly, Henry and Bella Muller.

Sid was kind enough to invite us to his home in Holyoke and to spend a long afternoon there among his treasures (and at a favorite cafe near Smith) talking shop. It was quite an experience for someone whose Houdini addiction was catalyzed by that early 70s documentary The Truth About Houdini. Quite a character.

Was very sorry to hear of Sid's passing, I had some great conversations with him over the years. I think Pat had it right that Sid even outdid Ed Saint in his plugging of Houdini's [and, dare I say it, his own] name. When Sid was on a roll, nothing--as the saying goes--was lost in the telling of a story. On the other hand, he was a fund of fascinating information. Many of us will miss him.

My condolences to Sid's sons... he was a crusty character who was always open to us when we approached him on a deal or for some advice. He is owed a debt for rescuing much that would have been lost forever without his efforts.

My obit for Sid Radner, published privately last year, is now online. I hope those who knew him will recognize him in it.
