Has anyone successfully signed up for EMC 2011 with IE?

Discuss general aspects of Genii.

I was a participant in EMC 2010 and am trying to "upgrade" my existing account to attend EMC 2011.

However, I have had no luck at all trying to do this through Internet Explorer 9.0

Question: has anyone either upgraded or successfully signed up for EMC 2011 through Internet Explorer 9.0

I asked EMC tech support about this, but they weren't particularly helpful other than to suggest using another browser, which I'm loath to do for various reasons.

I was hoping there may be some security/privacy settings that would allow the use of IE 9.0 with the conference. (Last year, I was able to access EMC via IE).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why don't you just send them an email?

Hi, Richard:

I did email them, but they had no suggestions (other than install Chrome.)

I was wondering if anyone here had figured out some workaround as I was able to work things via IE last year.

Sorry, I missed the fact that you already contacted them in your original post.

I use both FireFox and IE on my computer with no problem. Will Firefox work? It's pretty good.

I'm having the exact same issues, so I too would like to hear from anyone regarding this.

I was never able to get it to work with IE9, ended up using Chrome.

Hi, Guys:

Just registered via IE 8 on an old computer (thanks, Dustin!).

Last year, I used IE 8, but couldn't participate in the on-line discussions. (I could submit questions which I know got through--a couple of them got read, but I couldn't see what everyone else was saying on-line).

I hesitate to install Chrome as there have been several reports that it behaves badly when you try to uninstall it.

Globally, IE still accounts for nearly 50% of users, while Chrome remains somewhere around 20% (even in Europe, where Firefox edges IE by a nose).

It just doesn't make sense not to make sure the EMC website isn't 100% compatible with the latest versions of IE. (I emailed EMC with the suggestion to check IE 9.0 compatibility).

Ah, well--I hope to participate in EMC with my ipad2 anyway! :)
