The name will be familiar to magicians who've read some of Frank Garcia's books. Swift was a voice artist and magician:

Grandpa Stroehmann. Saw him as Shelly Levine in Glengarry Glen Ross over 20 years ago.

Was he not a member of The 13?

Allen was a good friend of Lee Noble, another great magical entertainer, and occasionally they would attend magic conventions together. I also remember seeing Allen in an Off-Broadway show as one of the leading four characters; he was really good!

I grew up with him on TV as Captain Allan Swift, host of the Popeye Show. He somethimes did magic between cartoons. The one I remember best was the 6 card repeat. His presenetation was memorable.
