Due to Railroad Daze in Franklin Park, Midwest Magic will not have Hot Dog Day this month...but come back on the third Saturday of June and have a couple on us with all the fixin's!

On Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 6:00 PM, Midwest Magic is Proud to Present:
Shawn Anthony
Street Alchemy Lecture

Mastering the Art of Transformative Street Magic

Shawn Anthony has been performing Magic around the globe for nearly 20 years. He has managed to bring the intimacy of close up magic to his grand illusion show and received rave reviews about his unique styling. Shawn started out in magic as a close up and street performer learning many tricks of the trade through his years of experience performing magic on the streets and through his mentors Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger.

In his new lecture "Street Alchemy: Mastering the Art of Transformative Street Magic" Shawn brings this knowledge to you in a very real way that can transform any act from lead to gold and have your audiences not only remembering your name but leaving your shows transformed and ready to see it again and again. In this lecture you will learn some of the following and much more,

Establishing a magical direction.
Finding your strengths and weaknesses and creating your own style.
Scripting, movement and costuming.
The psychology of choosing the proper participant.
How to attract and keep an audience.
The 4 stages of the magician.
How to make a simple trick a theatrical and memorable experience for your audience.
The concept of the 24/7 magician
Magic moments. (How to practice performance in everyday situations.)
How to make a living as a street/up-close magician
How to get tips without asking
How to handle hecklers.

This lecture holds something whether you are just starting out or if you are a seasoned veteran of our Art. Included in the Lecture Shawn will be performing his Street Magic routine, that will then be broken down to demonstrate the points of the lecture.
